Celebs have shared what their children have dressed up as for World Book Day, with many choosing their favourite book characters, but some going down the unconventional route of choosing film and TV characters
Stars have taken to social media to share what their children have dressed up as for World Book Day. Every year, our feeds are filled with adorable pics of celeb offspring decked out as their most cherished book characters, though some opt for the less traditional choice of film and TV icons.
This year, This Morning host Josie Gibson shared her son Reggie dressed up as Where’s Wally, sharing a sweet picture of him with the caption: “Happy world book day everyone#worldbookday #whereswally”, while Stacey Solomon shared a snap of three of her brood, Rex, Rose and Belle, all dressed up. She said: “Happy World Book Day, lots of love from The Karate Kid, Poppy the troll and Cinderella.” She added: “The girls didn’t have to dress up but they wanted to so we just raided their fancy dress box this morning.”
Meanwhile, Girls Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh shared snaps of her sons all dressed up and revealed they had a last minute costume change. She wrote: “We started as an Oompa Loompa (swipe right) but ended on Harry Potter and Billionaire Boy. Happy World Book Day …another one down.”
Emmerdale and Waterloo Road star Adam Thomas and wife Caroline had everyone chuckling with their kids, Elsie and Teddy, decked out as Shrek’s Lord Farquaad and Princess Fiona.
Ferne McCann also shared snaps of her daughters, Sunday and Flinty, going all-in on the Bluey theme. The little ones were seen sporting Bluey ears and engrossed in the vibrant books in Flinty’s nursery, while Ferne herself seemed to channel Little Red Riding Hood in one of the posts.
Later, the former TOWIE star posted another adorable picture of Sunday, this time dressed as The Tiger Who Came To Tea, striking a pose outside their home in celebration of the day.
Charlotte Dawson said of son Noah dressed as Toy Story’s Woody: “Noah’s first ever world book day @noahandjudedawsonsarsfield and he was so excited to go as woody!! Obvs Jude had to join in as buzz even tho baby girl isn’t here yet im so glad I got to see them spend a fun morning with them and see how excited Noah was for it.”
Meanwhile, Gogglebox’s Izzi had her followers in stitches when she posted a picture of her son Bobby dressed as Claudia Winkleman from The Traitors. With his mum declaring him the “most convincing” doppelgänger she’d ever laid eyes on, Bobby nailed the look of the BBC One presenter.
“We have never laughed so much on a school morning, didn’t even have to buy any makeup turns out I’m the same shade as Claudia herself,” Izzi quipped. The post certainly caught attention, with Gavin and Stacey’s Laura Aikman chuckling: “Hahaha this is amazing”, reports the Mirror. This Morning’s Sian Welby chimed in too, saying: “Ok, actually looks more like Claudia than Claudia does.”
But it wasn’t just the kids getting into the spirit as Amanda Holden and Ashley Roberts turned up at their Heart FM shows donning their favourite costumes. In typical Amanda fashion, the Britain’s Got Talent judge rocked a sultry Little Red Riding Hood ensemble complete with a corset and mini skirt. Pussycat Dolls’ Ashley opted for a cheeky Big Bad Wolf look in a short grey number.
