Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool have made history as the first all-British duo to clinch the Wimbledon men’s doubles title since 1936.
The British pair, Julian, 28, and Lloyd, 31, triumphed at Wimbledon, securing the men’s doubles crown by beating Australian Rinky Hijikata and David Pel of the Netherlands 6-2 7-6 (3) in the final on Centre Court.
This victory marks the first time an all-British team has won the title since Pat Hughes and Raymond Tuckey did so in 1936.
Lloyd expressed his awe at their achievement, saying, “When you say that it sounds incredible,” adding: “It’s been one Brit (winner) the last couple of years, now we’ve given you two Brits.”
Julian reflected on their journey, commenting, “We’ve played a crazy amount of tennis on grass, there was a lot of pressure on our shoulders,” and shared the emotional impact of their win: “It means the world. Our team backed us all the way. To do it here is incredible.”, reports the Express.

Following their remarkable win, Lloyd’s brother, Parry Glasspool, took to Instagram to celebrate the momentous occasion. The 33 year old actor, known for his role as Harry Thompson in Hollyoaks, shared videos and photos from Wimbledon, writing a heartfelt message: “Who would’ve thought it! Tennis every day for 25 years.”
He continued with enthusiastic praise: “Looks like it paid off! MASSIVE CONGRATS to the Little/Big brother for his WIMBLEDON DOUBLES WIN!! Crazy scenes.”
Fans of soap operas will remember Parry from his stint in Hollyoaks between 2015 and 2019, where he earned a Best Newcomer nomination at the 21st National Television Awards in 2016.
After leaving Hollyoaks, Parry appeared in Emmerdale for three episodes in 2022 as Jason Denshaw and also featured in The Batman in 2022.

Wimbledon fans took to social media in shock upon discovering that Lloyd’s brother is none other than Hollyoaks star Parry. One fan exclaimed: “Still fascinates me Glasspools bro was in Hollyoaks #Wimbledon.”
Fans also showed their support on Parry’s Instagram, with one writing: “Unreal mate! Congratulations to you all”, another posting: “Huge congrats to Lloyd and Julian. You’ll always be the brother of a Wimbledon champion…” alongside a heart emoji, someone else remarked: “Wow! Amazing” and another added: “Just incredible!”.
On-screen, Parry’s character, Harry, was part of some major storylines as the son of Tessie Thompson and Tony Hutchinson in Hollyoaks. Harry, who married Ste Hay from 2018-2019, fathered a son named Isaac with Sadie Cressington following a brief fling.
Harry’s life was cut short in a gripping 2019 plot twist when Breda McQueen fatally stabbed him with a chisel.

Talking about his soap exit at the time, he said he was happy to “go out with a bang”: “I think I was always going to leave this year, but I didn’t necessarily know at what point. If I was going to do longer than five years, I might as well have stayed at Hollyoaks for the long-run, which would have been fine.
“But because it’s a soap, you never know what’s going to happen. You could ‘choose’ to be in the show for a certain amount of time, but it doesn’t mean it’s going to happen! So I thought that five years was enough.
“I did think that if we kept Harry alive, I could possibly come back. I would have loved to have kept Harry alive through the ages, but it’ll be nice to do something else now.”
