Victoria Beckham will have the option to change her title now that her husband, David Beckham, has been awarded a knighthood as part of the King’s Birthday Honours.

The King’s Birthday Honours list acknowledges the accomplishments and contributions of individuals across the UK, including numerous celebrities recognised for their work in their respective fields.

David has made a significant impact through his services to sport and charity over his illustrious 30-year career.

He began his journey as a trainee at Manchester United in 1991, turning professional on January 23, 1993. However, it was in 1996 that he experienced his breakthrough moment, scoring a goal from the halfway line in a match against Wimbledon while playing for Manchester United.

“It changed my life,” he later recalled, as per the Manchester Evening News. “The ball seemed to be in the air for hours and it all went quiet. Then the ball went in and it just erupted. I was on cloud nine.”

After a remarkable 21-year career, David retired in 2013 at the age of 38, following a title win with Paris Saint-Germain.

Beyond his football career, David married Victoria in 1999, and they have since welcomed four children: Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper.

In his recent Netflix documentary, Beckham, the footballer revealed that he would often drive four hours just to spend 20 minutes with Victoria. As David is set to receive his knighthood, Victoria is poised to adopt the title of Lady Beckham.

“Lady” is the title accorded to the wife of a knight, which means Victoria will soon be known by this new moniker.

David expressed his deep honour at being knighted, saying: “Growing up in east London with parents and grandparents who were so patriotic and proud to be British, I never could have imagined I would receive such a truly humbling honour.”

“To have played for and captained my country was the greatest privilege of my career and literally a boyhood dream come true.

“Off the pitch I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to represent Britain around the world and work with incredible organisations that are supporting communities in need and inspiring the next generation.

“I’m so lucky to be able to do the work that I do and I’m grateful to be recognised for work that gives me so much fulfilment.

“It will take a little while for the news to sink in but I’m immensely proud and it’s such an emotional moment for me to share with my family.”
