Travis Kelce came to teammate Kadarius Toney’s defense after the wideout was decked during the Kansas City Chiefs training camp on Wednesday.
During the team’s scrimmage, Toney was slammed to the ground by defensive end George Karlaftis after catching a pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The cheap shot angered most of the offense — including Kelce — as they weren’t in full pads and the move could have resulted in an injury.
Toney, 25, responded by throwing the football at Karlaftis, narrowly missing the defensive player’s head.
Meanwhile, Kelce, 34, charged over from the other side of the field and exchanged words with the 23-year-old.
The three-time Super Bowl champion got into Karlaftis’ face, going helmet to helmet before giving him a light shove.
Although the two were quickly separated, they continued to jaw at one another as Karlaftis headed to the sideline.
Meanwhile, the veteran tight end returned to the huddle as they prepared for the next play.
This isn’t the first time that tensions have flared between Kelce and one of his teammates at the start of training camp.
Last July, Kelce threw a punch at teammate Jack Cochrane for trying to rip the ball from his hands.
After catching a touchdown, Cochrane took a swipe at the ball in Kelce’s hands, leading the tight end to take a swipe at the back of his head.
After the near miss, the two began chirping and shoving each other before another teammate came in to break things up.
Kelce later admitted he let his temper get the best of him, tweeting, “Gotta be a better teammate gotta be a better leader… plain and simple.”
While things have already gotten a bit chippy, it’s likely only going to escalate once they start wearing full pads on Friday.
The Chiefs veterans reported for training camp earlier this week after having a few months off following their 2024 Super Bowl win.
Kelce spent most of his off-season traveling the world with girlfriend Taylor Swift, who is near the end of the European leg of her international Eras Tour.
The “Cruel Summer” songstress has about a month of shows left before getting a three-month break until Nov. 14 — meaning she will likely get to attend the first half of Kelce’s games.
Swift was a fixture in the stands during the Chiefs’ last season, often showing up to the games with her famous friends and Kelce’s family.
