This Morning star rushed to hospital with horrific head injury

Former This Morning star Dr Ranj Singh took to Instagram to share a snap of his bandaged head injury after he slipped and “face-planted the pavement” on Saturday night

Ranj Singh, the beloved former This Morning and Strictly star, gave his fans a bit of a scare when he posted a snap with a bandage on his head, captioning it: “Not quite how I planned to spend my Saturday night.”

The 45 year old TV doctor was flooded with messages from worried followers who were clueless about what had happened to him. Later, he took to Instagram with a clarifying update, saying: “Apologies, I should have explained,” Dr Ranj penned. “I slipped and face-planted the pavement. Earned myself five lovely stitches.” But he reassured everyone that he’s all patched up now, adding, “All sorted though! Thank you for the messages of concern.”

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Dr Ranj on This Morning after he left the show in 2021, ahead of the Phillip Schofield scandal. Phillip, who had been with This Morning for 22 years, stepped down after revelations of his “unwise, but not illegal” affair with a younger staff member came to light. Amidst all this, Dr Ranj also opened up about experiencing a toxic environment and “bullying” during his time on the popular ITV daytime programme.

He said: “I was on the show for 10 years and I genuinely loved and valued working there. However, over time I grew increasingly worried about how things were behind-the-scenes and how people, including myself, were being treated.

“I didn’t know the truth about what was going on with Phillip, but I do know the issues with TM go far beyond him. It takes more than one person to create a culture.” Dr Ranj went on to say he raised concerns about the culture at the show but then found himself “being used less and less”.

He added: “This Morning had become toxic… I felt like because I whistle-blew I was managed out. I was assured that certain things were going to be addressed and changes made. I haven’t worked on the show since.”

He claimed that happened two years ago and “it still hurts”. It also affected his mental health, he said. He continued: “There are some good people in TV, but we need to be brave and stand up to those who aren’t.”

ITV later confirmed Dr Ranj had put in a complaint about bullying before he left the show. A spokesperson said: “Following a complaint made by Dr Ranj, we appointed someone to carry out an external review and the review found no evidence to support the complaint of bullying.”

Phillip later spoke out about Dr Ranj’s comments – saying he didn’t “know why he said it”. During an interview with The Sun, Phillip accused Dr Ranj of “stabbing him” in the back after they had a seemingly “lovely” final meeting.
