This Morning presenter Kate Lawler has been compelled to apologise to her neighbour after admitting to breaking the law.

Kate Lawler got into a tricky situation after a home DIY project went a bit too far. While painting her garden shed and fence at her North London home, she accidentally extended the work onto her neighbour’s shed without asking first.

She shared the story with her fans, revealing that her neighbour was very upset, saying she was “not happy at all.” On Instagram, Kate posted a video apologizing and admitting that what she did was “illegal” and counted as “trespassing.”

Kate was very honest about the situation, saying, “I just found out I’ve broken the law. I didn’t realize that painting someone else’s shed is illegal. Honestly, I had no idea that when my gardener leaned over from my garden to paint the back of my neighbour’s shed without permission, it counted as trespassing,” Wales Online reports.

She added, “If that upset anyone, I’m sorry. I also want to apologize to my neighbour because I genuinely didn’t know it was illegal, and I honestly didn’t think anyone would mind me painting the part of their shed that they couldn’t even see.”

Wrapping up her video, Kate admitted, “I know now it’s illegal—I didn’t at the time—but I’ll never do it again. So don’t be like me. Don’t paint the back of someone’s shed without asking first because it’s illegal and counts as trespassing.”

In the caption she added a warning: “WARNING! Don’t lean into your neighbour’s garden to paint the back of their shed or fence or anything—it’s actually illegal. It’s considered trespassing or vandalism, which I honestly didn’t realise before.”

She added, “Like I said in my last video, I’m going to buy them a sorry gift and apologise. Sorry if my actions upset you too.”

Kate also shared a quote: “Remember what Albert Einstein said — ‘The man who never made any mistakes never made anything.’ #shedgate.”

Earlier, she told her Instagram followers about the situation: “I’m in trouble with my neighbour for painting the back of their shed a different colour. I won’t be doing it again — in hindsight I know I should have asked first, but I didn’t think it would be a big deal since they can’t see it.”

She then asked her followers: “Would you be annoyed if you found out your neighbour had painted the back of your shed — which you couldn’t see? Have you had a similar fallout with a neighbour? Basically, am I the a***hole here? Should I buy them flowers and a box of Milk Tray to apologise?”
