Strictly Come Dancing star Vicky Pattison has admitted she “almost said no” to competing in the BBC dance competition. The 37-year-old is partnered with professional dancer Kai Widdrington and tonight, October 4, took to the dancefloor once again.
In the first live show last week, September 27, no contestant was eliminated. For week two, the scores will be carried over and combined with the previous week, with a change to the voting system.
Tonight, Vicky and Kai performed their Foxtrot in a nod to Vicky’s home city, Newcastle. Vicky was emotional after the performance, stating she hadn’t “really done an awful lot” make the north east proud “especially at the start of her career”.
Vicky was in tears as she “turned a corner” after her week two performance, dancing to Rein Me In by fellow Geordie Sam Fender and Olivia Dean. But ahead of the live show, Vicky admitted she almost turned down the opportunity to appear on the 2025 series.
Yesterday, October 3, Vicky took to Instagram to share a number of photos capturing her home life and was also seen This Morning therapists Nik and Eva Speakman. Every photo featured had its own caption, but she also shared an open message with her 5.5m followers.
Her post reads: “I knew before Strictly even started I was going to struggle with my nerves and anxiety… so much so, that I almost said no to this incredible opportunity. I almost let my fear stop me from doing something amazing.
“But I absolutely don’t want that nasty little inner critic to dictate my life. I don’t want it to convince me that I’m not capable of doing brilliant things once in a while.
“So I put on my big girl pants and instead I tried to get myself in the best possible place before I started this little journey. I did things for me… that I potentially haven’t done enough of recently.
“I practiced self care, went back to therapy, allowed myself to feel all my things, fear included… and you know what? I felt better.
“You might not be doing strictly, but we all get the opportunity to do exciting and amazing things in our lives and I just wanted this to be your sign to go for it. Whether it’s the career change, the blind date, the solo trip… Just go for it.
“Anxiety is our brain trying to convince us that the worst possible outcome is going to be your reality… but it doesn’t have to be.”

Of her Strictly journey, Vicky added: “Whatever happens tomorrow, I’ve tried my best, made loads of lovely new friends and had a ball…and my brain almost convinced me not to do this! If any of this resonates with you, please stop getting in your own way… you are brave, brilliant and powerful beyond measure..
“And there’s a whole exciting world of amazing things waiting for you… if you just get out of your comfort zone and go for it once in a while. We get one life and we all deserve to turn our vision boards into our camera roll. Yours Sincerely, A still very nervous, but proud of herself for doing it anyway little egg.”
Vicky found fame when she joined the cast of Geordie Shore as part of the original line-up in 2011. The TV star, then aged 22, had recently returned to her native Newcastle after she lived in Liverpool, where she studied drama at John Moores University.
After her Geordie Shore rise to fame, Vicky was crowned the winner of I’m A Celebrity in 2015. Since, she has been a regular star on our screens, presenting her own show Judge Geordie, as well as being a panellist on ITV’s Loose Women and more recently hosting Channel 4’s The Honesty Box.
Last year, Vicky tied the knot with husband Ercan Ramadan and together, they live in their stunning Essex home, Oaks House, with their two dogs. In the week two live episode, Vicky and Kai were thrilled to receive 24 points, one point higher than their week one Cha Cha Cha.
