It has recently been confirmed that social media star George Clarke has joined the line-up for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing. He confirmed the news earlier today live on BBC Radio One. George is a familiar face on TikTok and is swapping his running trainers for his dancing shoes next month.

George co-hosts the Useless Hotline podcast alongside Max Balegde. Speaking on BBC’s Radio One about his upcoming Strictly journey, he shared: “I feel like it hasn’t quite sunk in yet. It doesn’t feel real.”

The YouTuber added: “It’s been quite a lot of biting my tongue.” George also shared he was supposed to be running a marathon at the end of the month but has had to pull out of the race in order to kickstart his dancing training.

George regularly shares aspects of his life to his 678,000 followers on Instagram. He also has over 2m followers on TikTok, where he posts funny videos and lifestyle content. He has since took to social media to share his “regret” about joining the show.

Reposting his Strictly Come Dancing headshot to his Instagram story, George joked: “Not sure if I’ll regret showing you my dancing ability or the t-shirt choice more.”

George is the sixth celebrity to be confirmed and fans are excited to see how he gets on in the iconic ballroom. Fellow YouTuber Joe Sugg, who took part in the show alongside his now-partner Dianne Buswell in 2018, said: “YES @georgeclarkeey this is going to be brilliant.”

Caspar Lee said: “I reckon your quickstep is faster than your quick wit (see what I did there).” One fan called Evie expressed her shock over the announcement as she wrote: “I was NOT expecting this.”

Another fan called Lana said: “Well I’m watching for the first time ever then.” Another social media user said: “What a way to get a new audience!”

Excitement is building for the 23rd series and training has already commenced for the professional dancers. Four celebrities were confirmed yesterday in the first of the cast announcements for the 2025 season.

Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly will return to host the 2025 series

Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey was the first to be revealed. During The One Show on Monday night, hosts Alex Scott and Roman Kemp revealed the next three famous faces who will be starring in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The first celebrity to be confirmed was reality TV star Dani Dyer-Bowen, followed by actress Alex Kingston and former football player Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Earlier today, EastEnders star, Balvinder Sopal was confirmed as the fifth celebrity to be involved in this year’s race for the iconic glitterball trophy.

The news was exclusively confirmed by Richard Arnold on Tuesday’s edition of Good Morning Britain. The 46-year-old actor is renowned for her role as Suki Panesar-Unwin in the BBC soap.
