Dianne Buswell celebrated her boyfriend’s birthday with him yesterday as she fitted time into her busy schedule, as the Strictly launch date approaches. Sharing photos and videos of partner Joe Sugg to Instagram, the reigning Strictly champion said “Happy birthday my darling. You are simply the best @joe_sugg.”
The couple have been in a relationship together for nearly seven years, they first met on Strictly back in 2018. They became fan favourites when competing on the show and made it to the final, they didn’t win the competition but left a lasting impression. In 2021, they purchased their first home together.
To mark Joe’s 34th birthday, Dianne baked a cake. She vlogged the baking process and captioned a video: “Bake @joe_sugg birthday cake with me. I would say it’s one of my finest pieces of work!”, seemingly impressed with her own work, the professional dancer tagged the official Great British Bake Off social media account.
The cake was in the shape of a toilet, with Dianne urging fans to watch the video until the end to see the finished result. She told followers “watch until the end for the big reveal”.
In response to the birthday cake, Joe wrote: “I think she’s ready for bake off because that is a showstopper @diannebuswell surprised me with a home made cake of one of my favourite things.
The YouTube star added: “I’ll take a toilet cake over a Colin the caterpillar any day of the week thanks for all the birthday wishes today.”
Dianne previously told the Express that she never anticipated finding love on the BBC show. She said: “I feel like all the stars aligned with Joe. We’re just literally such similar people in so many ways. We’re very different in ways too, but just our personalities just click so, so well.
“I always think it’s so weird how we met and I feel like everything was just aligned in the right place, right time for both of us. It was pretty special.”
It has been an exciting couple of weeks for Dianne. The 36-year-old and former Strictly partner Chris McCausland have reunited ahead of the new series of the BBC dance show.
The 2024 Strictly winners won over the hearts of the nation with their emotional, moving and powerful performances. As the new series gets underway this month, a new couple will be bidding to get their hands on the Glitter Ball Trophy.
All of the new celebrities taking to the dance floor have been announced by BBC and while it is not known whether Dianne will have a celebrity partner this year, she will be involved in the show in some capacity.
Each new series of Strictly Come Dancing typically sees the reigning champions return to the dance floor for one last dance with their partner, before handing the baton over to another celebrity. On Instagram, Dianne shared a video alongside the Scouse comedian and captioned it: “We are back.”
She added: “Team winning isn’t everything was back for one last rehearsal.” The professional dancer and comedian kept fans updated throughout their Strictly journey with rehearsal vlogs, sharing videos playing games and answering fan questions.
