Strictly Come Dancing’s Jamie Borthwick and Jowita Przystal were spotted looking close in London last week, fuelling rumours that they are dating. The EastEnders actor and the professional dancer, both 30, are said to have hit it off after meeting on the BBC dance show’s Christmas special two years ago.
The pair were snapped outside the Adelphi Theatre in the capital, where they watched Strictly stars Amy Dowden and Carlos Gu in their production of Reborn. Both Jamie and Jowita beamed and looked in high spirits as they hugged in the April sunshine. Jowita, looking chic in a maroon leather blazer and tortoiseshell sunglasses, wrapped her arms around Jamie, who reciprocated with a tight hug as they headed into the theatre.
Jamie and Jowita first crossed paths on the 2023 Christmas special of Strictly, when the Jay Brown actor took home the glitterball trophy with partner Nanxy Xu. Despite being paired with other celebs, whispers soon started circulating backstage about a budding romance between Jamie and Jowita.
Fast forward almost two years, and the pair have continued to grow close while touring the UK with Strictly, reports the Mirror. Jamie danced with Michelle Tsiakkas, while Jowita is part of the professional dancers line-up. Last year she made it to the semi-final of Strictly with former TOWIE star Pete Wicks.
Sources claimed that the pair grew close while filming the BBC One show and Jowita instantly saw a spark with Jamie. “Things did get romantic between them, Jowita loves Jamie’s playfulness and sense of humour, not to mention he’s a very talented dancer,” a source said.
The source continued to the MailOnline: “So many rumours were circulating about Jowita and Pete that her relationship with Jamie went under the radar, which was something they laughed about. They’re still enjoying each other’s company as they perform on the Strictly tour, with the cast believing their romance could well lead to something long-term.”
Pete Wicks addressed their closeness on his Staying Relevant podcast. He questioned Jowita when she appeared on his podcast: “I have a question for you, I think I have asked you this before but you have to answer. You have to answer this. Don’t sit on the fence or do any of that crap, I want to know.
“If you weren’t dancing with me, who would you want to dance with… and it doesn’t have to be who’s left, it could be people who have gone. Don’t sit on the fence, answer the f***ing question.”
He said, “If you couldn’t dance with me, who would you like to dance with? I know the answer to this… 100 per cent, Jamie.”
Jowita admitted her partner of choice would indeed be Jamie, saying that they had previously met and had hit it off well before the series started. She mentioned they “get on very well.”
Pete gushed during the conversation: “I said this to you at the weekend actually but you and Jamie would have been great, you get on really well with him and you would have had lots of fun with him and Jamie is a really good dancer, so cool..”
