Strictly Come Dancing’s Chris McCausland jokingly threatens legal action against Dianne Buswell

Chris McCausland has teased that he will be taking legal action against his Strictly Come Dancing partner, Dianne Buswell, after she used a game he created without his permission

Comedian Chris McCausland, 47, hilariously teased legal action against his former Strictly Come Dancing partner Dianne Buswell, 35. The beloved BBC star, Dianne, posted an entertaining clip to Instagram in which she paid homage to a game she used to play with Chris.

When paired together on the dance competition, they had fun with a KitKat-tasting challenge — Chris would have Dianne guess the flavours using only her taste buds and nose. Now, with Chris back touring for stand-up comedy, Dianne took the reins and coaxed her dad, Mark, into the guessing seat, prompting Chris’ light-hearted legal jibe.

In the video, Dianne introduces the setup, saying, “I’m going to do Chris’ role, and you’re going to try and do what I would do, which is guess the flavour.”

Then, adding a sprinkle of glam to her post, she gets her beau Joe Sugg, 33, to stride out in a ski suit, which was playfully declared as a tongue-in-cheek prize: “You’ll get a double pair for you and mum, and it’s state of the art – because that’s what Chris would always say.”

Poor old Mark didn’t quite match the tasting talents of Dianne and Chris, needing quite a few guesses and prompts before successfully identifying the cookies and cream flavour. Ever the entertainer, Dianne dangled a bunch of tempting prizes, even teasing a flight back to Australia for her dear parents, reports the Mirror.

Dianne captioned the snippet with: “The Christmas special of guess the flavour! Don’t worry production manager @chrismccauslandcomedy has given the all clear to go ahead with the episode without him! Our special guest is the one and only MARK @mark.3802,” revealing just how much fun they were all having with the festive iteration of their KitKat quiz.

However, Chris was quick to respond with a humorous comment: “Wow. I’m speaking to my lawyers. You must’ve really wanted him back on that flight to keep it going that long,” he joked, adding a laughing emoji. Dianne shot back with: “My dad makes me look like the Einstein of Kit Kat tasting!”

Fans joined in the fun, leaving comments urging Dianne and Chris to reunite for more laughs. One fan wrote: “Hahahahahaha not sure who’s funnier now. But now I get why Dianne and Chris got on so well! @chrismccauslandcomedy has the same sense of humour and personality as her family back home in Australia,” Another added: “I can’t tell you how much I miss you and Chris doing this. Great to see your dad stepping in to do it. Brilliant.”

Sadly, Chris and Dianne won’t be reuniting for the Strictly tour, which runs from 17 January to 9 February. On social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, Chris revealed his own touring commitments with his return to stand-up comedy. He explained: “I’m afraid I will not be able to do the Strictly tour. My own tour was meant to be on the road in September and a lot of dates were moved to Jan and Feb to accommodate doing #Strictly. It’s unfortunate as it’s been so much fun, but my own dates can’t be moved for a second time.”

He later shared: “It’s fine to have two different feelings about the same thing. I would’ve loved to have done more dancing with Dianne and it would’ve been a lot of fun, but also I’m very lucky to have people want to watch me do stand-up and I’m enjoying getting back into that.”
