Strictly Come Dancing fans all said the same thing about George and Alexis’ song choice. The full list of songs and routines has been confirmed as the remaining couples prepare to take to the dancefloor for a Halloween special this weekend. Tensions are heating up week by week as couples push to get through to the next show, with the hopes of making it all the way to the final.
Sunday night saw former Chelsea star Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink become the fourth celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing. The 53-year-old and professional partner Lauren Oakley left the competition after losing the dance-off to Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin.
However, it was social media star George Clarke who found himself at the bottom of the leaderboard. George and Alexis scored 27 points out of a possible 40 for their jive to Harry Styles’ hit As It Was for Icon Week.
George had previously impressed the judges in recent weeks. Their tango to Viva La Vida by Coldplay scored 30 out of 40 and George is already a clear favourite to win the competition.
However, Strictly fans have accused the show of “setting” George up with his “trendy” song choices. The 25-year-old has performed to a wide range of music, with everything from transforming into the One Direction star for Icons week, just weeks after performing a couple’s choice for Movie Week to Soda Pop from K-Pop Demon Hunters.
The pair scored 31 points for their routine based off one of Netflix’s most popular movies of 2025. This week, George and Alexis are set to perform a cha cha cha to Apple by Charli XCX.
However, Strictly fans suggested George seems to get the “trendy” songs. Taking to social media after this week’s songs were announced, one fan said: “Feels like they’re setting George up with the song choices. Like ‘internet man does the trendy internet songs’.”
A second said: “Is Strictly setting George up to fail? I love Charlie XCX but a cha cha to Apple is such an awful choice?” A third said: “Another TikTok song for George. Predictable at this point.”
More added to the conversation on Instagram. One user said: “Can we stop giving George the ‘young’ choices, it’s clear it’s only for a certain audience appeal and not to actually give him good dances.”
Another added: “Stop doing George dirty!” Another said: “Getting annoying now. TikTok songs every week. His fanbase don’t even like them.”
Best known on social media, George regularly shares aspects of his life to his 678,000 followers on Instagram. He also has over 2m followers on TikTok, where he posts funny videos and lifestyle content.
