Steven Gerrard has shared how proud he is of eldest daughter Lilly after she gave birth to the former Liverpool captain’s first grandchild this month. Over the past couple of weeks, the family have shared adorable photos holding baby Lila Grey.
When the news of the birth was announced last week, the family were inundated with loving messages and support. Lilly shared the news by posting a photo of her partner holding a baby carrier in the hospital corridor. The black and white photo was captioned: “@Leebyrne 2 becomes 3”, alongside a pink heart and a baby emoji.
Gerrard’s eldest daughter has stayed with the family tradition of using names beginning with ‘L’. In addition to Lilly, Gerrard and Alex are the proud parents of Lexie, Lourdes and Lio Gerrard. The former Liverpool midfielder announced his family was complete after he announced Lio’s birth in 2017.
However, the Gerrard family has now grown after the birth of Lila. Alex welcomed Lilly into the world when she was 21, and Lilly has now welcomed her baby into the world at the same age.
In a post uploaded to Gerrard’s Instagram Stories today, a picture of his daughter taking a mirror selfie was shared. He wrote: “So proud of you Lilly”, alongside a red heart emoji.
Lilly and her partner, Lee Byrne, have been dating for over two years; the two confirmed their relationship in 2022 with a series of pictures from time together in Ibiza, Spain.
She took to Instagram to mark the New Year in 2024 to hail her partner as she shared a snap of the two together. She posted a heartfelt tribute as she said: “Best friend. Happy new year.”
Lilly also shared updates with Lee as the couple enjoyed Taylor’s Swift’s concert at Anfield last summer. She said: “Taylor time. Best time with the best people.”
The 21-year-old and Lee announced in January the exciting news they were expecting their fist child. She shared an image of her baby scan with caption: “Our little secret. The best news, mini us is on the way.”
Gerrard was the first to comment after his daughter revealed her exciting baby news earlier this year, as he said: “We can’t wait. Great news and congratulations we love you.”
Mum Alex, took to the comments and said: “Can’t wait.” Lilly’s sister, Lexie, also took to the comments as she posted on the social media platform: “Can’t wait to be an auntie.”
After giving birth, Lilly’s sister Lexie took to the comments to offer praise. She said: “She’s perfection. Proud of you lil.” Curtis Jones’ partner, Saffie Khan, also took to the comments to share a heart eyes emoji.
Jamie Carragher’s wife, Nicola, said: “Congratulations Lilly, Lee and all the family. So happy for you all.” Hattie Dynevor posted: “Congratulations.”
