Stacey Solomon has been left heartbroken after revealing that her beloved rescue spaniel, Teddy, may never walk again. The Loose Women star broke down in tears on her BBC show Stacey and Joe as she described the devastating Good Friday emergency that saw Teddy rushed to the vets after suddenly collapsing.

Stacey, 35, explained how Teddy had slipped a disc, crushing his spinal cord and leaving him paralysed. Emerging from the clinic in tears, she told her husband Joe Swash and son Zachary: “It’s not that good. You come in and speak to her. I feel really bad. I don’t know what to do because you can see all his discs are gone – they’ve been bad. It must be hereditary.”

Joe later confirmed the grim prognosis: “At the moment, there’s a 70% chance that he’ll never be able to use his legs again. He’s slipped a disc in his back which is crushing his spinal cord. Is it fair putting him through an operation with such little chance of recovery? But then, he’s part of our family.”

Despite the odds, the couple agreed to put Teddy through risky surgery. Stacey later phoned her sister Gemma in tears, saying: “He’s only got a 30% chance of recovery. She didn’t say there’s 0% chance so what do you do? You have to give it a go, don’t you?”

Months later, Stacey updated fans on Instagram, thanking them for their support. She revealed Teddy had adjusted to life in a wheelchair: “He will never be able to use his legs again, but he’s such a happy boy. He’s such a lovely boy. You just get on with it, don’t you Teddy?”
