Documentary make Stacey Dooley and professional dancer Kevin Clifton are in the process of renovating their home on Merseyside. The couple, who met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, made the move to be closer to Stacey’s mum after they fell in love with the Liverpool property after just one viewing.
Kevin previously admitted they made the decision within a matter of moments, after welcoming daughter Minnie in 2023, the move meant their she could be left with her nan while the busy pair continued to work.
On the Parenting Hell podcast hosted by comics Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe, Stacey shared: “She’s really hands-on and if she wasn’t on the scene, and I appreciate this isn’t always the way for many people, I think I would really struggle. I don’t think I’d be able to work actually.”
Stacey continued: “[It was] A mixture of reasons but primarily, she’s our nanny. And I wanted the baby close to her nan and it’s a lovely relationship to nurture.
“The pair of them are thick as thieves. I don’t really exist when my mum’s around. I’m doing the house up. I bought this really beautiful house but it’s so old, it’s on its last legs.”
Kevin told the Liverpool ECHO: “Stacey loves looking at houses on the internet. Looking at interiors and stuff is her favourite thing to do.
“She just happened to have seen something she liked and thought ‘oh it’s not too far away from my mum’. We went and had a look and the second she walked in was like ‘I love it and I can really see us living here’. It all happened really quickly and we love it.”
Stacey has kept fans updated on social media with sneak peeks of their home renovations over the last couple of years, from Christmas decorations to paintings and furniture.
Since her move to Liverpool, Stacey has praised the people of Liverpool and referred to herself as an “honorary Scouser” after friendly encounters in the city.
