Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton have issued an exciting joint announcement as they will star together in a new production of hit play. 2:22: A Ghost Story. The tour will see the happy couple reunite in a professional capacity for the first time since they won Strictly Come Dancing in 2018.
Stacey and Kevin have recently relocated to Liverpool to raise a family as their daughter Minnie recently turned two. The couple teased an update last night as Kevin took to Instagram and said: “We’ve got something to announce tomorrow morning on BBC Breakfast.”
They appeared on the red sofa this morning and Stacey said how the story shares some similarities with their move to Liverpool. She said: “There’s a couple, they’ve just bought this house, it’s a renovation project and they’re doing it up.
“They’re in the thick of parenthood, they’ve had their first little girl. There’s loads of parallels. I’ve done the play before and I was literally like this feels fairly close to the bone. So it feels like a real treat to do it now with Kev.”
2:22 is penned by John Robins and has been a West End smash hit with more than thirty productions across the globe. The supernatural thriller sees a character named Jenny try to convince her husband and their two dinner guests that her home is haunted by a ghost who arrives at 2:22am each night.
It is the first time a real life couple has performed in the lead roles and Stacey is delighted to be taking the whole family on the road. She said: “We’re bringing her along. It’s probably the last time we can do it before she starts school.
On the logistics of looking after Minnie while the two are performing, Stacey laughed: “My mum will be coming. Don’t panic. She’ll be bathed and put to bed. We can hang out with her in the day and my mum will put her to bed.”
Stacey performed in the play last year and she is delighted to reprise the role. She said: “I was slightly apprehensive because it wasn’t my world at all. But I just couldn’t get enough of it. When the opportunity presented itself again, we wondered if there was a world when we could do it together and here we are.
The couple also announced the news on their Instagram account. Stacey said: “JENNY AND SAM 2025. I couldn’t be happier to be back playing Jenny. I had the time of my life last summer on those boards.
“Even tho the real love of my life is infact @donnaair …. @keviclifton is a v v v stellar close second. LET’S go nail this tour baby!” People took to the comments to congratulate the couple after the news.
