Smiling Sam Thompson steps out following photos of ex Zara McDermott with Louis Tomlinson.

Sam Thompson looked in high spirits as he stepped out of his South London home today, following pictures emerging of his ex-girlfriend Zara McDermott with her new beau, Louis Tomlinson for the first time. The Made In Chelsea star, 32, was all smiles as he left his swanky Chelsea residence.

The reality TV star appeared to take a moment to bask in the April sun before jumping into a black taxi. Sam rocked a laid-back look with khaki green trousers and a navy long-sleeve top, clutching a denim jacket and white trainers. Despite recent snaps surfacing of Zara, 28, hand-in-hand with Louis, 33, in LA, Sam seemed to be in high spirits.

It comes as Pete Wicks, Sam’s close pal, shared on KISS Breakfast earlier today that he’s genuinely “happy” for Zara and Louis’ newfound love. While filling in for Perri Kiely and Jordan Banjo on the show alongside Olivia Attwood, Pete remarked: “I know them, I have a sight connection there and you know, I’m happy, I’m happy for them.”

“That’s amazing, I’ve seen the pictures they’re walking through a car park, really romantic… I’m really struggling not to say anything but it is good gossip. I might tell you some more off air”, reports the Mirror.

Former Strictly star Zara and One Direction singer Louis were spotted during their romantic getaway to Los Angeles, where they have posted photos from the same locations on their social media.

The pair have enjoyed a night out together, watching Stereophonics in a crowded venue, cleverly keeping each other out of their photos. Later that week, Zara made their relationship Instagram official by sharing a photo of them having breakfast together in Malibu, with Louis’ arm with a distinctive tattoo making a subtle appearance in the shot – a move that’s been dubbed a “soft launch” of their romance.

Their romance has been further confirmed by the snaps of them on a lunch date at Soho Beach House in Malibu, strolling hand in hand and beaming with joy as they chatted with each other.

Their romance was confirmed earlier this year after they were first spotted on a cozy date at a hotel restaurant in Suffolk. Zara and Sam had dated for five years and renovated their house in Chelsea before their shock split in December.

Sam recently opened up to dating expert Paul C Brunson about his break-up in an episode of his podcast Staying Relevant. An unusually subdued Sam confessed to feeling rudderless post his breakup with Zara. Love life expert Paul enquired about Sam’s self-improvement pursuits post-split, to which Sam admitted: “Not much to be honest with you”, reports the Mirror.

He said: “I’m terrified about where I’m going. The way I see my life is that there’s a plane and the pilot’s past out and they’re going ‘can anybody fly a plane?’ and it’s like ‘no but they’re going to put Sam in the cockpit and you’re like smashing buttons… I’ve got to land this thing and you have no idea what you’re doing.”

He also added: “I suppose a lot of people look for validation in other people and they look for the other person instantly to fill that hole. I can’t do that.”

Sharing further, he added: “I love home, I am a real home body. I love my cats and being around my family and being in my home, I barely ever go out.”
