Ruth Langsford has announced she is desperate for freedom as her divorce from Eamonn Holmes is yet to be finalised. A source told New that the TV star will not start dating again until the process is complete. The couple parted ways last year after 27 years together and 14 married. They also share a 22-year-old son, Jack.
Famed for their stint as co-hosts on This Morning from 2006 to 2021, Eamonn and Ruth confirmed they would be going their separate ways. In May 2024, a representative announced the end of their marriage, stating it was “over” and that the pair were “in the process of divorcing”.
A source tells The Mirror that Loose Women panellist Ruth is not ready for a new relationship and “just wants out” of her marriage. Meanwhile, Eamonn, 63 has moved on with Katie Alexander, 43.
“She’s still wearing her wedding ring because she’s coming to terms with a long relationship ending, and realising Eamonn maybe wasn’t the person she thought he was,” the source claimed. “And she’s also coming to terms with life being very, very different for her going forward.
“Ruth has been having fun going out with her girlfriends, and enjoying a little flirt, but that’s it. She really needs the Eamonn chapter to be fully closed before she can move on romantically, she needs her freedom.

“She really isn’t dating, it’s the last thing she wants to do,” our source continued. “She just wants to get the divorce over and done with. Her friends would love to see her happy with someone else, but she needs to get the divorce over with first before she can properly move on.”
Last September, Eamonn was spotted boarding a Mediterranean cruise with relationship counsellor Katie. Two months later, they stepped out together at a major awards party, in what was viewed as a way to launch their relationship.
Ruth, however, hasn’t been romantically linked with anyone since the split. The source claims it’s because she needs a complete fresh start away from Eamonn.
“They’re both hoping the divorce goes smoothly and quickly, but they’ve been together a long time so there’s a lot of finances to work out,” they told The Mirror. “Ruth just wants a fair split and for it to be done with. She just wants out.”
Ruth, who’s had something of a makeover since the breakdown of her marriage, hit back at a follower on her social media last year who queried why she was still wearing her wedding ring.
After she posted a video of herself whipping up a green smoothie, a fan wrote, “Why has she still got her wedding rings on?” to which Ruth replied, “Because I’m still married.”
The couple first started dating in 1997. By that point Eamonn had split from his first wife Gabrielle, with whom he has three children. Their son Jack was born in 2002 and they married in June 2010, just a few months after Eamonn proposed.
Given how much history they share, it’s not surprising that Ruth admitted recently she was still coming to terms with what happened. She told Woman & Home: “I’m not delighted my marriage is over but I’ve accepted that my marriage is over, so I am trying to now embrace the fact that I’m single and can make choices that are just about me.”
Judging by Ruth’s socials, she has certainly been making the most of her me-time. Last month, Ruth celebrated her 65th birthday with two girlfriends at a swanky all-inclusive resort on the Caribbean island of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Posting a montage of holiday snaps with her pals, including A Place In The Sun presenter Lucy Alexander, Ruth wrote: “Sun, sea, sand, MANY cocktails and laughing until we cried! Perfect. Wonderful accommodation, beautiful beaches, fabulous restaurants, great spa and, as much as I love them, no children!!”
