Good Morning Britain’s Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid had a bit of an awkward moment with guest David Harewood this morning. The British actor was on the show to chat about the Big Give campaign.
Before they could dive into the campaign, the hosts started quizzing David about his thoughts on the popular Netflix series, Adolescence. Recently, Prime Minister Keir Starmer voiced his support for the campaign to screen the hard-hitting series in schools, revealing that he’s been watching it at home.

The series, starring and co-written by actor Stephen Graham, centres around 13 year old Jamie Miller who is accused of killing a female classmate. With its focus on young male anger, incel culture, masculinity, and misogyny, there have been calls for the series to be shown in schools.
David also had positive things to say about the new series, but as the interview progressed and the questions kept coming, he interrupted Richard’s question. “Do you think we also underestimate the power of…” Richard began, only to be cut off.
“How long have we got? Because I’m here to talk about the Big Give campaign!” David interjected. “Oh yes, go, go,” said a flustered Susanna, while Richard quickly wrapped up his question, asking: “Do you think we underestimate the power of hero worship?”, reports the Mirror.

David then responded to the question, touching on his own mental health struggles, before moving on to discuss the Big Give campaign.
Viewers of X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, commented on the moment. One viewer tweeted: “Awkward scenes on GMB – David Harewood there to talk about some campaign, but they spent the whole time asking him about Adolescence – a drama he’s not in. In the end it got a big Partridge as he asked how long they had left to discuss why he was there.”
Another chimed in with: “david does not wanna talk about this.”
The Big Give is a charitable powerhouse in the UK, renowned for its innovative online match funding campaigns that amplify the generosity of donors and make a real difference to causes close to their hearts.
This week marks the Arts For Impact week, a seven-day extravaganza of online match funding aimed at bolstering arts and culture charities throughout the UK. The initiative is all about empowering these organisations to continue their vital work in driving societal change.
Meanwhile, back on the show, Richard and Susanna caught up with Strictly Come Dancing’s very own Nikita Kumzin, who shared his excitement about hitting the road for his new tour.
In a candid chat, Susanna quizzed: “Do you have your favourite celebrity partners joining you on stage?” Nikita, barely containing his enthusiasm, spilled the beans: “I actually do! Do you know what? I’m actually so excited about this because I’ve wanted to say this for such a long time.”
He then dropped the news that he’ll be sharing the stage with his partner Layton Williams for a special performance on March 30th.
