Prince Andrew ‘refusing’ to walk late Queen’s beloved corgis amid China ‘spy’ scandal

Prince Andrew is said to be refusing to walk the two corgis he was left by his late mother and is apparently “demoralised” after being linked to an alleged Chinese spy

Prince Andrew is reportedly shunning his responsibility to care for the corgis inherited from his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, while being embroiled in a scandal involving links with an alleged Chinese spy. Despite facing intense scrutiny, a statement from his office claimed that he had “ceased all contact” with the man in question, known as H6, upon initial concerns.

The Duke of York’s entanglement in this controversy has left members of the Royal Family seething, and it appears to be weighing heavily on him, so much so that he hasn’t found the energy to walk his two cherished corgis—a task he usually performed with enthusiasm. A confidante revealed to The Sun: “He’s so down and demoralised he hasn’t even been able to get himself motivated to take the dogs for a walk. He used to do it regularly but recently he can’t even bring himself to go out.”

It’s alleged that H6, identified by The Sunday Times as a 50 year old businessman, exploited his association with Prince Andrew to gain access to prestigious events and visits to royal homes, including Buckingham Palace and residences such as St James’s Palace and Windsor Castle.

Prince Andrew is facing a less-than-festive period as he’s likely to spend Christmas Day in solitude at Royal Lodge, with his ex-wife Sarah, Duchess of York being his sole companion.

Former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond described him as a “pariah” within the family. She previously told OK! “The King is a kind soul and Andrew is his brother. He would have hated to be put in the position of having to un-invite him or ban him from what promises to be a big family get together.”

“It seems quite likely Andrew sat down with Fergie, and possibly his daughters, to discuss the best solution. Thankfully, wise heads have prevailed and he obviously realised his presence at Sandringham would be an embarrassing distraction on a day which – this year of all years – should be all about the King and Catherine.”

“Andrew would have had to be living on another planet to be unaware of the furore surrounding his association with an alleged spy. Just as the year is set to end on a high for the Royal Family – with the King and Princess of Wales likely to charm the crowds on Christmas Day – yet another awkward controversy involves the Duke of York.”
