Pete Wicks’ podcast co-host and best friend Sam Thompson branded the Strictly Come Dancing star’s secret code name “the biggest ick”, following his revelation
Strictly Come Dancing has shared what his secret code name was on the BBC dance show last year.
In a bid to keep the cast a secret, the contestants were each given a dessert-themed name before their identities were revealed to the public.
Sharing what the producers chose for him, the 37-year-old revealed: “So the theme for Strictly was desserts, so everyone had different dessert names.
“So I, and the reason they came up with my one was because they imagined it was something I’d say.
“So I was treacle sponge, they thought of it [like] ‘Hello treacle’.”
In response to his revelation on the Staying Relevant podcast alongside Sam Thompson, his co-star laughed and branded it “the biggest ick”.
Clarifying that he does not use such a term, Pete added: “I obviously don’t say that but someone imagined that I’d say it.”
Pete competed on the show alongside professional dancer Jowita Przystał and together they made it to the semi-final.
While he consistently claimed he had no rhythm, the former TOWIE star beat the odds and was voted through every week, up until his exit.

During the semi-final, head judge Shirley Ballas expressed her love for Pete’s efforts and branded him “Mr Strictly Come Dancing”.
Following his Foxtrot routine to Beyond The Sea by Bobby Darin, she said: “You had no experience whatsoever coming in.
“I thought you did a very good job on your footwork and your neckline…. week one you were like this and today you were shining.”
Shirley went on to praise Pete for making no mistakes, adding: “You did a grand job, you should walk with your head high.”
The reality star was voted off of the show ahead of the final, which was won by Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell.
Following his exit, Pete shared a heartfelt message on Instagram thanking fans, Jowita and all those a part of the show for their support.
In view of his 1.9 million followers, he said: “I tried my best from day one and I took the show seriously.
“I did what I could and I appreciate every single one of you that gave me the opportunity to keep doing that week on week.
“You don’t always have to be the best or have the most talent, but you should never stop trying! Thank you.”
Pete went on to thank Jowita for believing in him from the beginning and said the pair would be friends “for life”.
