Andre Portasio has issued a tribute to Paul O'Grady on their wedding anniversary

Paul O’Grady’s husband has shared a personal update as he announces a new family member. Andre Portasio started a relationship with Paul in 2007. The two married in the summer of 2017 and lived together happily on a farm in Kent.

The legendary entertainer, who was born in Birkenhead, died suddenly on March 28 2023, prompting a huge outpouring of love and tributes from across the country and beyond. The animal lover and radio star had just finished working on ‘Paul O’Grady’s Great Elephant Adventure’, a two-part documentary series, two weeks before his death.

The TV star died from sudden cardiac arrhythmia at the age of 67, surrounded by his dogs and husband at their home. Andre has since vowed to carry on Paul’s legacy in his honour. In a new post uploaded to Paul O’Grady’s Instagram page today, March 8, Andre made a heartwarming announcement.

He shared a picture of an adorable puppy and wrote “Keeping up with tradition. Petit the newest member of the family. @PaulO’Grady #PuppyLove.” Fans of the Lily Savage star have taken to the comments with lovely messages, Sharon wrote “Could you imagine Paul’s face” and Ali added “Always remembering Paul.”

Pixie commented “Aww Paul would have loved the little Puppy” and Zara added “Adorable. Paul would approve.” Others wrote “Aww Paul would have loved this pooch too” and “Paul would be smiling right now.” Andre also posed for a snap with the Yorkshire Terrier puppy.

Paul and Andre moved in together following the pandemic. They shared their Adlington home in Kent with their beloved brood of animals including five rescue dogs, Nancy, Arfur, Conchita, Eddie and Sausage, as well as pigs, alpacas, chickens, sheep and goats.
