Corrie lovers reckon they’ve figured out who Ronnie Bailey’s (played by Vinta Morgan) next love interest will be following his surprising break up with Debbie Webster.
Debbie (Sue Devaney) recently underwent dementia tests after experiencing concerning symptoms such as forgetfulness and misplacing her purse. In addition to this, she began snapping at her loved ones and making errors at work.
Things took a frightening turn on the soap when she started having blackouts, one of which resulted in a fall. Debbie sought advice from a private doctor who suggested she might have young-onset dementia, leaving her shocked and fearful.
Despite her fears, she bravely proposed to her partner Ronnie, who accepted. However, in Monday’s episode (28th April), Debbie received the devastating news from a neurologist that she had vascular dementia.
In heart-wrenching scenes, viewers were confronted with the harsh reality of the disease and the fact that there is no cure, reports Leicestershire Live.
Accompanied by her brother Carl (Jonathan Howard), Debbie was advised to maintain her cardiovascular health and warned against looking up life expectancy online.
Later, an emotional scene unfolded when Debbie encountered a distressed and disoriented woman in a car park. The woman failed to recognise her own daughter, who thanked Debbie for her kindness.
She then shared the devastating news that her mum is battling vascular dementia, leaving Debbie reeling.
Later, Ronnie arrived at the Chariot Square Hotel, thrilled to share that his offer to buy Number 6 had been accepted.
However, Debbie made the heartbreaking decision to call off their engagement, insisting she no longer loved him – a crushing blow to Ronnie. It is a huge shock to fans hoping the pair get their happily ever after.
In the aftermath of Debbie and Ronnie’s split, fans are now speculating about his next potential love interest. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one fan expressed sympathy for Ronnie, hoping he and Debbie would eventually reunite.
They wrote: “Oh Poor Ronnie, I really hope he and Debbie have their happy ending.” But in the comments section, fans were quick to propose Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins), the show’s resident troublemaker, as Ronnie’s next romantic conquest.
