Molly-Mae breaks silence on NYE kiss with Tommy Fury – as he reveals reason for split

Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury have both spoken out on their relationship, after they were seen kissing passionately at a New Year’s Eve party

Molly Mae Hague has opened up about her and Tommy Fury’s relationship, calling it “complicated” after he shared that their split was due to his struggle with alcohol. The Love Island sweethearts, who became a fan favourite couple since their 2019 appearance on the show, have had their fair share of ups and downs.

Despite getting engaged and welcoming their daughter Bambi, they parted ways last August amid whispers of Tommy’s infidelity, which he has consistently refuted. Their journey will unfold on screens starting tomorrow in a revealing Prime documentary, coming hot on the heels of their recent reconciliation and a New Year’s Eve smooch that sparked rumours of a rekindled romance.

Speaking about their current situation and that kiss, Molly-Mae, 25, confessed: “I think it’s just, we are navigating a really complicated time in both of our lives, in the public eye, and I think this is a whole new territory for me. Tommy and I’s relationship, It’s always been in the public eye always, but to deal with this breakup with millions of eyes watching it is hard and it is complicated. And I think the reason why I don’t comment on it, and why I don’t speak about it on my YouTube or publicly is because simply, we both are navigating it ourselves, and we both are figuring it out as adults and as parents, and yeah, we’re doing the best we can.”

“But I really do feel like the documentary is gonna answer a lot of questions, and we also do touch on that situation. The last thing I want is any confusion. And I don’t ever want people to feel confused by things that are going on. So, yeah, we’ve tried to explain things as best we can.”

Molly-Mae shared these words during her new series launch in London. Meanwhile, Tommy, 25, was opening up about his own struggles in a new interview on the Men’s Health UK YouTube channel, reports the Mirror. He confessed: “All I’ve been seeing for the past six months, ‘Cheater! ‘, ‘He slept with me! ‘, ‘He slept with this girl, he slept with that girl! ‘ Complete and utter b*llocks.”

“We broke up because I had a problem with alcohol and I couldn’t be the partner that I wanted to be anymore. It kills me to say it, but I couldn’t…Cheating was never a thing. You can ask Molly this yourself. It was the drink and the drink is not a good thing. You need to get a grip of it.”

“If you’re in the same spot as me where you just think that it’s going to cure all your problems, it doesn’t. You just wake up even worse and you want to drink more to try and feel happy again. That’s the cycle of it.”

Tommy, who is the younger brother of former world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury, revealed that his drinking problem began when he could no longer box. Despite this, he would still wake up early to play and feed Bambi, but instead of training, he would turn to alcohol.

Tommy Fury has opened up about his past drinking habits, revealing the extent of his struggle with alcohol. “It’s not like I’d get up in the morning and start drinking, but rather than sit in bed all day and fester, I’d think ‘why not go out? ‘ Where I’d normally be in camp, I’d just be smashing Guinness left and centre and then later on in the night shots would come out. Most nights I would drink to get blackout drunk. I think that’s what really took its toll on me.”

His actions also affected his relationship with Molly-Mae Hague, who was busy launching her Prime series at a swanky London hotel, surrounded by a team of 20 including stylists, bodyguards, and a film crew for her eight million Instagram followers.

Amidst rumours of a split, Molly-Mae hit back, saying: “I think that for me, above everything, has been the most frustrating part. I actually say in the documentary ‘I wish it was a publicity stuff’ because it’d be a lot easier, because going through all of this with the turmoil and the breakup has been incredibly hard. To have those comments, and I do see the comments, I see all of them.”

She continued, addressing the speculation head-on: “People say, ‘oh, this has obviously just been done for long term brand or a publicity stunt’, that is very painful, because it’s real life. Tommy and I have a baby together, and it’s very, very real, and it’s a really hard thing that we’ve both gone through the last six months.”

“I wish it wasn’t, because it would have been a lot easier, but it isn’t. I think this documentary will clear up any impressions of that, you see the real side to it, it’s kind of like you’re a fly on the wall. And like I say, I think people are going to be quite, not shocked, but I think they’ll be quite surprised by how honest we’ve been.”

She continued: “It’s definitely so much more than a breakup documentary, obviously, we do talk about the breakup, it does discuss the breakup, and we’re very honest in what we share with the breakup. But it’s so much more than a regular documentary. It focuses on parts of my life that I haven’t really delved into before. At the minute, we’re still filming, but we touch on lots of stuff like motherhood, we talk about body confidence, running my two businesses, and just doing all of that while having a two year old and navigating through a break up has been a really challenging time.”

Born in Stevenage in 1999, Molly-Mae was initially seen as just another Love Island contestant, and she and Tommy only managed to finish as runners up. However, during her time in the villa, viewers felt a connection with her and her Instagram followers skyrocketed from 160,000 to three million. She also has a massive audience tuning in to her YouTube videos.

The star has stepped down from her role as Creative Director at Pretty Little Thing to focus on motherhood this year, after welcoming her daughter Bambi in January. She also launched her own brand, Maebe, in September. Opening up about her new series, which will reveal her initial struggles with motherhood and the ups and downs of starting her brand amid a relationship breakdown, Molly-Mae shared: “It just felt like a perfect time to open up, really, and let people in, in a way that I haven’t before.”

“I think it, it was a huge decision for me, because I’ve not done any TV really, since, like, six years ago, since doing Love Island. So it needed to feel right. And just like I say, it came at the right time, I knew that following the journey with Maebe would be an incredible thing to do, and that was my main motivation behind it, was to really just showcase that.

“I’m really proud of what we’ve created. Like, just even, like the cinematography in this documentary, it’s really, like, it’s really special. And like, the team and the crew have just been like, second to none. I’ve always been someone who wears my heart on my sleeve, and I’m very open. But I think this just shows things on another level.”
