
It is an exciting week for the Carragher family as Mia debuts in the stage production of The Hunger Games. The adaptation is based off the book series, written by Suzanne Collins. The role Mia will be stepping into will be the biggest of her career so far.
The daughter of Liverpool FC legend Jamie Carragher and wife Nicola, has been slowly but surely emerging onto the film scene with various projects and the role of The Hunger Games’ Katniss Everdeen is one that has led to a wave of supportive messages for the upcoming star.
The stage is set for the premiere of The Hunger Games: On Stage, arriving in London this week in a purpose-built, state-of-the-art venue, Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre. It will be the first ever theatre adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ internationally acclaimed book and the subsequent movie series.
The production, which gets underway this evening, will follow the journey of fearless heroine Katniss Everdeen as she defies the odds in a gripping tale of courage, hope and unbreakable human spirit. Mia appears to be up for the challenge as she shared a series of snaps to her Instagram today.
A photo of her script was shared with a message from Suzanne Collins attached. A personal message to Mia, said: “For Mia, may the odds be ever in your favour.
“Thank you for your amazing work bringing Katniss to life on the stage. Love Suzanne Collins.” Mia previously shared a photo of a Mockingjay symbol from The Hunger Games, in the films, this emblem symbolises rebellion against the Capitol. After the 75th Hunger Games, protagonist Katniss Everdeen becomes ‘the Mockingjay’, embodying this defiance.

Ahead of the first run of the show in front of an audience, Mia posted pictures from behind-the-scenes today and wrote “The best company and friends, let’s do this.”
The Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre, which was first proposed in September 2024, is a 1,200-seat venue, which will be packed each night. The Hunger Games on Stage is written by Olivier Award-winning playwright Conor McPherson, known for The Brightening Air, Girl from the North Country and The Weir.
Mia Carragher’s previous credits include the independent feature One Night in Istanbul, The Gathering for Channel 4, and she will soon be seen in the new Playground Entertainment series Maigret and the feature film Let’s Love. She graduated from Tring Park School for the Performing Arts in 2022 and studied acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.
After receiving the incredible role, Mia said: “I am so excited and honoured to be playing Katniss. This is a dream come true role and I cannot wait to see the production come to life. From being a huge fan of the films, I feel so lucky to be a part of the Hunger Games world, especially working with Matthew Dunster and an incredible creative team.”
Former Liverpool FC defender Jamie Carragher shared how proud he was back in July when Mia found out she had the role. On Instagram, he wrote: “I’m bursting with pride with you being the first on stage Katniss Everdeen, Mia.
“You’ve put so much work in over so many years to land such an amazing role, you deserve this babe. I can’t wait to come and watch @thehungergamesonstage, it’s going to be amazing.”
