Maya Jama romance with Ruben Dias ‘confirmed’ as he releases picture of them cuddling

Maya Jama and Rúben Dias have reportedly been dating since last month and now the Manchester City star has appeared to confirm their romance in a sweet social media post

Love Island host Maya Jama has been spotted getting cosy with her new beau in their first loved-up snap together. The TV presenter is rumoured to have been dating professional footballer Rúben Dias since last month, and they were first seen together after a romantic New Year’s Eve date.

The pair reportedly met at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Manchester on 10 November, shortly after Maya’s split from Stormzy. Rúben seemed to confirm their relationship by posting a photo of them watching a sunset together. In the picture, he can be seen wearing a hoodie and trousers, his arm wrapped around a woman in a skirt and trainers, her identity hidden as they face away from the camera. He also shared other snaps from their holiday with friends.

A source told The Sun: “Maya and Ruben swapped details at the EMAs and have chatted since, but things went up a gear in early December. When Ruben got injured and had to miss the congested new year fixtures, he jumped at the chance to see in 2025 with Maya in Spain.”

They added that spending New Year’s Eve together was a significant step forward in their relationship, and while it’s still early days, Maya and Rúben “get on really well” and “make a gorgeous couple.” The pair enjoyed a dinner date on New Year’s Eve at Sa Capella in Ibiza with one of Maya’s friends, reports the Mirror. They weren’t posting couple pics, but buzz has it they were spotted together in a grainy photo that popped up online. Maya confirmed her split from 31 year old rapper Stormzy back in July last year.

At the time, the ex-lovebirds shared a heartfelt joint statement: “We fell madly in love in 2014, broke up in 2019, and then spent five years manoeuvring life apart. We decided to try for the final time in August 2023, and we’ve spent this past year trying our best to make it work; however, we recently decided to call it quits.”

“We were 21 and 20 when we first met – both at the beginning of our careers – and spent five years growing together and then five years growing separately, so this final attempt required a whole lot of figuring out, relearning, and unlearning. We tried, and it didn’t work, and that’s okay.”

They continued: “We still think the absolute world of each other, we still care and respect each other, we are still grateful for the time we’ve had together, and we are still friends and will always be friends (so if you see us having a lil catch-up at The Brits or something, don’t cause a fuss, we are dawgs!)”
