I’m A Celeb star Maura Higgins and Strictly Come Dancing sensation Pete Wicks have been spotted packing suitcases into a car together for a suspected festive getaway
Maura Higgins and Pete Wicks have taken their rumoured romance to the next stage as they were spotted packing suitcases into a car together just days before Christmas. The reality TV stars, who are yet to confirm their relationship, looked smitten with each other and are thought to be heading off on a festive getaway – if their suitcases are anything to go by.
Since Maura, 34, returned from Australia following her time on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and Pete, 36, left Strictly Come Dancing during the semi-finals, the pair have appeared to be inseparable with each other. It comes after they sparked romance rumours prior to their shows, with Maura also dropping huge hints about who she was dating during her time Down Under.
In a fresh update, the pair were photographed together on Monday, 23 December, as they loaded large suitcases into a white Mercedes car. Maura and Pete had two large suitcases, along with the former Love Island star’s Louis Vuitton cabin suitcase, suggesting they could be heading off somewhere for an extended period of time during the festive season.
They both appeared relaxed and happy in the snaps, with Maura wearing her long brunette locks down in curls while sporting casual grey joggers and a cropped black jacket. Meanwhile, Pete rocked a black beanie hat, black joggers and a monochrome zip fleece, with their cosy attire hinting that their journey was lengthy.
The Strictly star was also spotted carrying a black holdall bag as he made his way into the taxi. According to reports, Pete’s fancy Porsche was parked nearby, however, it is unclear where they were leaving from.
Earlier this month, Pete broke his silence on their suspected romance during his podcast, Staying Relevant, with his best pal Sam Thompson. Catching up on their latest escapades, Sam revealed he had chatted with Maura post-elimination on the I’m A Celeb spin-off show I’m a Celebrity: Unpacked after initially making a pact not to discuss Pete and Maura’s alleged fling as his “loyalty to Pete beats everything”.
But Pete quipped back, teasing Sam: “It does until the leaving interview, and you say ‘welcome to the family’, so I guess that one just sort of slipped out did it?” Despite Sam’s little slip-up, it was Maura herself who got tongues wagging about the romance in the jungle, confessing to campmates and later spilling more tea to Alison Hammond on ITV’s This Morning.
Reflecting on being in the public eye, she admitted: “You do forget about the cameras, and I do like to keep things private, but let’s be real, I said it. I can’t remember saying it, but I said the words ‘I miss him’.”
She gushed at the time: “I do miss him, like I missed all my friends and family. Honestly, he’s been so supportive, honestly. I didn’t know if he was still in Strictly and I’m so proud of him, he’s proud of me, and I can’t wait to see him when I get back.”
