Martin Kemp Leaves Loose Women Panel Speechless with Light-Hearted Chat About Married Life
Martin Kemp left the Loose Women panel in stitches during a special crossover episode of Loose Women and Loose Men. Appearing alongside Kaye Adams, Paul C Brunson, and Judi Love, the 63-year-old opened up about his views on intimacy in relationships—offering a humorous take that caught everyone off guard.
The group was discussing whether couples should schedule time for intimacy. While Celebs Go Dating expert Paul suggested it could be a smart idea, Martin wasn’t quite convinced.
“I don’t think you can schedule that,” Martin said, prompting laughter from the audience and fellow panellists.
“If I had to look in my diary and it said 7:30pm on Thursday night — I just don’t think it works! I even feel under pressure if it’s a Sunday morning.”
With everyone laughing, Martin continued:
“So what, everyone here does it on Sunday mornings? I know I do! But I feel the pressure — like, ‘Oh no, it’s Sunday, I’m going to have to do it in a minute!’”
When Paul pointed out that many couples spend as little as an hour of quality time together per week, Martin replied:
“Sure, you can plan time to eat together — but it doesn’t have to mean anything more than that.”
As Paul clarified he was referring to “date nights” that might naturally lead to intimacy, Martin joked:
“Oh, so it’s a date night you’re talking about?”
The Spandau Ballet star kept the laughs coming when host Kaye Adams asked if he’d try scheduling a romantic evening.
“I’ll definitely give it a go,” Martin chuckled. “I’ll give Shirl a call in a minute… Hang on, this is live, isn’t it?”
Looking into the camera, he added: “Shirl, get yourself ready — I’m on my way home!”
Martin and his wife, Shirlie Holliman, have been together since the early 1980s, after he saw her perform with Wham! on Top of the Pops. The couple married in St. Lucia in 1988 and share two children — Harley Moon, 35, and Capital FM DJ Roman Kemp, 32.
Their marriage has sparked public interest before. On the podcast FFS! My Dad Is Martin Kemp, Martin once left son Roman stunned by cheekily saying:
“Shirlie gives me some good tongue lashings… and you know what I mean!”
He went on to praise her strong personality:
“She’s good at putting me in my place. She knows exactly how to do it.”
Roman, shocked, replied:
“What the actual f*** does that mean? That’s horrendous. I can already see the headlines!”
Despite the awkward moment, the father-son duo ended the episode on a warm note.
Martin shared how much he enjoys their chats:
“I never laugh as much as I do when I’m here with you. Even with my mates — it’s not the same.”
