Louise Redknapp Jokes “Is That Alright?” While Opening Up About Age Gap with New Boyfriend

Louise Redknapp said she feels “lucky” as she opened up on her new romance. The Eternal singer was previously married to former Liverpool FC captain, Jamie Redknapp, before they divorced in 2018.

The 50-year-old has been dating businessman Drew Michael since 2023. She regularly shares updates from their happy relationship on social media, such as when they attended Glastonbury Festival last year.

Louise has discussed her thriving romance with Drew in an appearance on the latest episode of Lisa Snowdon and Andy Goldstein’s podcast, We’re Not Getting Any Younger. She said: “I’ve got a boyfriend whose great and lovely. I’m just having a really nice time.”

Louise laughed the two get regularly photographed together by paparazzi since Drew lives in a busy part of Central London. She added: “He lives in Soho so we go to the bagel shop and [getting photographed] is a thing.

“Gone are the days of the side ponytail and the dirty tracksuit to run up and get a tuna bagel. I just made a decision that I don’t want to hide anything. I just go about my business and if I get snapped, I get snapped.”

Louise revealed Drew is nine years younger than her, but said this hasn’t led to any issues in their relationship. When Lisa revealed her partner is seven years younger than her, Louise asked: “Is that alright? Talk to me about it.”

Lisa revealed the age gap with her partner is no issue at all, adding: “It doesn’t feel that big of a gap, now we’re at the age we’re at. Especially because [Drew] must be mature and must be good conversation, stable and kind.”

Louise agreed and revealed it is also special to her how Drew has formed a close bond with her two children, Beau and Charley, who she shares with Sky Sports pundit Redknapp.

She added: “He’s great with my boys. He’s a great friend with them. The tone is just right. He’s just a really great guy, I feel very lucky to have met him.”

Andy asked Louise why she questioned Lisa on if the age gap is alright as she explained it is a societal issue. She said: “We live in a society where if it’s the other way round, it’s never talked about. But it does get brought up.”

Louise appeared on the podcast ahead of the release of her new album, Confessions, which comes out on May 23. A song on the new album titled Manifesting is about finding what you’re looking for and Louise laughed when she was asked if the song was about true.

She said: “It’s not about him as such, but it’s about manifesting what you’re looking for. The whole song is really tongue and cheek. I didn’t manifest him at all, but you meet people at the right time for you in your life.”

Louise lived in Liverpool with Redknapp when her former husband played for the Reds in the 1990s. In a previous interview with the ECHO, she revealed how she still considers Merseyside “home”.

She told the ECHO: “I lived here for a long time so it’s a little bit of a home from home. It means a lot to me. It’s a city that I always feel very comfortable coming back to.”
