Steven Gerrard was emotional as he shared an adorable family update. The Liverpool FC legend shares four children with his wife, Alex Gerrard

The Reds icon is the proud dad to Lilly, Lexie, Lourdes and Lio – and he regularly shares updates from his happy family life on Instagram. The 44-year-old has taken to the social media platform today to reveal his youngest son’s sweet tribute to his dad in his latest school project.

Seven-year-old Lio put together a biography of his dad’s greatest moments in a Red . Gerrard shared a photo with his 11.6m followers alongside a tearful emoji.

He later shared a proud note from the school teacher praising his son. He captioned the post: “Well done kid.” The teacher’s note said: “Well done Lio! You have worked so hard and completed your biography! Great effort to write sentences and use finger spaces. Super job.”

It is set to be a big year for Gerrard’s family as his eldest daughter will welcome her first child into the world. Lilly took to Instagram at the start of 2025 and said: “Our little secret. The best news, mini us is on the way @leebyrne8.”

Gerrard was delighted with the news as he’s set to become a grandad. He said: “We can’t wait. Great news and congratulations. We love you.”

Away from his family life, Gerrard stepped aside from his duties as manager of Al-Ettifaq in January. Gerrard took to Instagram to reveal he had reached a mutual agreement to part company with the Saudi Pro League club after two years.

He said: “After careful consideration, the club and I have mutually agreed to part ways. This was not an easy decision, but sometimes in football, things don’t work out as planned.

“The Saudi Pro League is a tough and competitive league, and I have nothing but respect for the players and staff who give their all every day. I want to sincerely thank everyone at the club for their support and hard work.

“Football in Saudi Arabia is moving in the right direction, and I’ll always appreciate my time here. Wishing the team and the fans nothing but success moving forward.”
