Steven Gerrard has given his seal of approval to his daughter’s partner with a special message. The former Reds captain become a grandad last month when his eldest daughter, Lilly Gerrard, gave birth to a baby girl.
Lilly has welcomed her new bundle of joy into the world with her partner, Lee Byrne. It is another special day for the family today as Lee is celebrating his birthday. The former Liverpool FC midfielder marked the occasion with a snap of Lee with his granddaughter as he embraced him as a member of the family.
He said: “Happy birthday to my son in law.” Lilly has kept with a Gerrard family tradition with the name of her daughter. In a heartfelt post last month, she announced her name as Lila Grey.
The Premier League icon and and his wife, Alex, gave all their four children names beginning with L. In addition to Lilly, they are the proud parents of Lexie, Lourdes and Lio.
Lilly and Lee announced in January the exciting news they were expecting their fist child. She shared an image of her baby scan with caption: “Our little secret. The best news, mini us is on the way.”
Gerrard was the first to comment after his daughter revealed her exciting baby news earlier this year as he said: “We can’t wait. Great news and congratulations we love you.”
Mum Alex, took to the comments and said: “Can’t wait.” Lilly’s sister, Lexie, also took to the comments as she posted on the social media platform: “Can’t wait to be an auntie.”
The retired midfielder has taken to life as a grandad as he shared a snap cradling Lila with his 11.7m followers. He captioned the post: “Grandad duty.”
Lilly has been dating Lee for over two years as they went public with their romance in a series of snaps posted from their time in Ibiza, Spain.
She has regularly been sharing updates from her happy family life since she become a month last month. She issued a tribute to Lee on his birthday this morning.
Alongside a collage of the family of three, she said: “Happy birthday to my Lee. Hope your day is as special as you are to me. Thank you for everything and being the best dad to our little girl. Love you.”
New parents, Lilly and Lee, enjoyed their first night out this week since become mum and dad. The two went to Drake’s concert at the Co-Op Live arena in Manchester.
Lilly captioned the post: “Mum and dad are out” with a celebration emoji and red love heart emoji. She shared an adorable snap alongside her partner as the couple enjoyed their night away from their newborn.
Lilly looked “amazing” as she wore a pair of blue denim jeans and a black long-sleeved bodysuit. Lilly’s followers were quick to flood the comments with positive messages and compliments.
