The retired winger was startled after he was nearly set on fire during his punditry duties for Real Madrid’s match against Mallorca
Luis Garcia shocked fans as he had a near miss on live television this weekend. The former Liverpool FC player was on punditry duties for ESPN last night as Real Madrid played Mallorca.
However, the coverage at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix almost took a disastrous turn during a fire-breathing ritual that took place before the match. The retired winger was startled and dived out of the way when the flame came alarmingly close to his head.
Garcia took to social media to react to the moment as he re-shared the clip alongside the caption: “Get burned on Live TV… real version!! No trim needed this week.” Fans took to the comments to share their surprise after the dramatic moment.
Chima said: “Omg.” Ronny added: “Oh sh**” James posted a series of laughing emojis alongside the comment: “Welcome to the new season…”
The match was also full of drama as Mallorca earned a hard-fought draw against the reigning champions as La Liga got underway. Kylian Mbappe started up front and his debut was going perfectly to plan when Rodrygo put Real Madrid in front on 13 minutes.
However, Mallorca stayed in the game and equalised on 53 minutes when Vedat Muriqi headed the ball into the back of net to level proceedings. Mallorca kept the champions at bay and Real Madrid went down to 10 men in the 97th minute when Ferland Mendy received a direct red card
Mbappe failed to get on the scoresheet as his La Liga debut ended in disappointment. The 25-year-old did open his account for his full debut for the side as Real Madrid defeated Atalanta 2 – 0 in the Super Cup.
The former PSG player will aim to return to scoring ways when he makes his Bernabeu La Liga debut next weekend as Carlo Ancelotti’s team face off against Valladolid.
