Liverpool FC supporters thrilled after Stacey Dooley’s ‘five year’ announcement

Stacey Dooley lives in Liverpool

Stacey Dooley, her husband Kevin Clifton and their daughter Minnie were in attendance to watch Liverpool and Everton go head-to-head in the women’s Merseyside derby at Anfield this afternoon. The clash marked the first tie of the season for both sides. it was a disappointing result for the Reds side who suffered a 4-1 defeat at home, while the Blues impressed away from home and earned three points in style after an excellent second half display.

The Women’s Super League match was attended by thousands of supporters. Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Stacey, posted a photo holding a Liverpool FC top with “Dooley” on the back to Instagram.

She captioned the post: “Am thrilled to have signed a 5 year contract. Especially given I’m pushing 40. YNWA.” She paid tribute to her nan, who lived in Liverpool, adding: “No but actually my Nan would have be THRILLED if she would’ve known I’d ended up here.”

Last year, Stacey and professional dancer Kevin made the decision to move to Merseyside to be closer to Stacey’s mum Di, after Stacey found the perfect property.

Kevin previously admitted they made the decision within a matter of moments, with Stacey falling in love with her dream home and after welcoming daughter Minnie in 2023.

Stacey explained what the move meant to the family a couple of months ago, admitting: “It was a mixture of reasons but primarily, she’s our nanny. And I wanted the baby close to her nan and it’s a lovely relationship to nurture. The pair of them are thick as thieves. I don’t really exist when my mum’s around.”

After sharing the photo from Anfield this afternoon, one fan commented: “Scouse blood Stace, one of us” and another said “Stacey’s a red pass it on.”

Others commented “Yeeees! YNWA Stacey” and another joked that the documentary maker would be “unstoppable alongside Mo Salah and Isak.”

Further comments said “looks good on you”, as Stacey also wore a Liverpool top to attend the game. Kevin shared a photo of Stacey in the stands cheering Liverpool on and their daughter Minnie taking in the atmosphere of the derby at the iconic ground.

In July, Stacey praised the people of Liverpool as she referred to herself as an “honorary Scouser” after a friendly encounter in the city.

Stacey told followers about a kind gesture she had experienced after a show in Liverpool. In a video she said: “I’ve just finished in a gig in Liverpool and I am so touched by this, so I was speaking to this guy called Jimmy and he had this Liver Bird [badge] on his jacket, I think they’re called Bertie and Bella.

“We were just talking about the city in general and then he took this [badge] off and give me it. He said ‘you’re a Scouser now so you can have this’. And this is what day-to-day interactions are like in this city. I know I am like a broken record but isn’t that just so lovely? I’m made up with that.”
