Perrie Edwards made a huge announcement today confirming she is pregnant in a touching Instagram post. The 32-year-old Little Mix singer is engaged to former Liverpool FC footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The post was captioned: “Guess what hunnies…” with a video of Perrie, Alex and their son Axel. In the video Perrie is wearing a white t-shirt with “if he wanted to he would” written on the back. The mum-to-be turns around in the video and shows off her baby bump.

On the front of the t-shirt the words “and he did” are printed. She is then joined by her gorgeous family who she shares hugs and kisses with.

The happy news comes just weeks after the singer opened up on the “worst day of her life” when she suffered a miscarriage. The couple announced their relationship in 2017 and became parents in 2021 when their son, Axel was born.

In a new interview on the Paul C Brunson podcast, We Need To Talk, Perrie explained Axel is a rainbow baby which means he was born into a family that has previously suffered a miscarriage.

She said: “I remember finding out I was pregnant. Obviously, I started bleeding not long after, and I went to hospital and I had the scan and they were like ‘There’s no baby’.

“And I was like, ‘Oh, I’ve made this up. Maybe I got a false positive or something’. I remember being on my own at the appointments.” Just under a year after Axel was born Perrie suffered another miscarriage.

Perrie was rehearsing for the Little Mix tour when she discovered she was pregnant again. However, Perrie explained she suffered a miscarriage which she described as the worst day of her life.

She said: “We went for what was a 20-week scan, but we were actually 22 weeks, and that was just the worst day of my life. Like horrendous.

“And I just knew something was wrong in the scan and he [the doctor] just kept going over the same thing, over the same thing… I’ve never experienced an out-of-body experience where everything goes in slow motion.”

Perrie explained that it was difficult to come to terms with her loss. She said: “It’s weird, because the first time it happened, I think because it was so early, I was like, ‘Oh, that’s hard’.

“But I think when you’re 24 weeks and you’ve planned out that room and all these things, it’s really hard. And nobody knows other than immediate friends and family.”

Dozens of messages have already been left under today’s post congratulating the couple on their thrilling news. Singer Rochelle Humes said: “Lovely news congratulations girl.”

TV star Ferne McCann said: “Ahhhhhh lovely news congratulations” and Vicky Pattison added: “Arghhhh! congratulations gorgeous girl.”
