Lilly Gerrard wowed followers this week as she revealed she has become a mum. Steven Gerrard’s eldest daughter took to social media on Tuesday (July 15) to welcome her first child into the world.
The 21-year-old shared the incredible news when she shared a snap of her partner, Lee Byrne, as he carried their new baby out of the hospital. She captioned the post: “2 becomes 3” The Liverpool FC legend’s daughter later revealed how she has carried on a family tradition as she confirmed the name of her new bundle of joy.
She said: “So lucky to be your mum. My beautiful baby girl. Lila Grey. Perfection.” The adorable name is in keeping with a family tradition as the retired Reds’ midfielder and his wife Alex gave all of their children names beginning with L.
In addition to Lilly, the couple are the proud parents of Lexie, Lourdes and Lio. Lilly’s partner also continues the trend of names beginning with L.
Lilly has been dating Lee for over two years as they went public with their romance in a series of snaps posted from their time in Ibiza, Spain. Lilly regularly shares updates from her happy life on social media.
She took to Instagram to mark the New Year in 2024 to hail her partner as she shared a snap of the two together. She posted a heartfelt tribute as she said: “Best friend. Happy new year.”
Lilly also shared updates with Lee as the couple enjoyed Taylor’s Swift’s concert at Anfield last summer. She said: “Taylor time. Best time with the best people.”
Lilly and Lee announced in January the exciting news they were expecting their fist child. She shared an image of her baby scan with caption: “Our little secret. The best news, mini us is on the way.”
Gerrard was the first to comment after his daughter revealed her exciting baby news earlier this year as he said: “We can’t wait. Great news and congratulations we love you.”
Mum Alex, took to the comments and said: “Can’t wait.” Lilly’s sister, Lexie, also took to the comments as she posted on the social media platform: “Can’t wait to be an auntie.”
Last month Lilly posted a picture of a trolley filled with nappies, baby wipes, lotions and other products and she commented “nesting mode” on an Instagram story.
The couple were flooded with messages of support after Lilly confirmed the couple had returned home after the birth of their child. On Instagram, she said: “Welcome home Lila Grey. I love you so much.”
Her sister Lexie took to the comments to praise Lilly after the update. She said: “She’s perfection. Proud of you lil.” Curtis Jones’ partner, Saffie Khan, also took to the comments to share a heart eyes emoji.
Jamie Carragher’s wife, Nicola, said: “Congratulations Lilly, Lee and all the family. So happy for you all.” Hattie Dynevor posted: “Congratulations.”
Former Liverpool FC goalkeeping coach John Achterberg said: “Congratulations to you all enjoy.” Followers also took to the comments to praise the new bundle of joy’s name.
Colleen said: “Congratulations Lilly baby girl will be so loved by you all her name is perfect.” Emily added: “Love her name Lil. Congrats again to you all.”
