Leanne Campbell has remained busy after wrapping up her time on Hits Radio. The radio host has broadcast her final show for Hits Radio, formerly known as Radio City, having co-hosted the show for more than 10 years.
The programme was the only one left on Hits Radio Liverpool that had a direct Merseyside link, after the Radio City breakfast show was combined with the one broadcast on Lancashire’s Rock FM. The Liverpool station and 14 others across the country were rebranded to Hits Radio last April.
Parent company Bauer Media revealed that it would scrap local and regional breakfast shows on all of its Hits Radio stations for the whole of England and Wales from June 9. On her final show, Leanne said: “For the last time our 96.7 will broadcast from Liverpool & a scouser will sit behind the mic. The things we’ve been through together!
“22 years of life on the radio with you all is what I’ll cherish my whole life. Thank you. How lucky am I to have had you lot to talk to.It’s the end of our amazing adventure. Completed it mate.”
A huge outpouring of love and support was directed at the presenter when it was announced the show would be axed. That continued until her last day, and she is still being supported now – even after broadcasting her final show.
This morning, June 16, Leanne posted a career update to X. She said: “5 hours old and number 5 in the podcast charts! Them scousers again eh.” A series of tongue pulling emojis accompanied the message.
The new podcast is called “Leanne and Dave’s Daily Dose”, on the website for the new podcast it states: “Now there is no local FM radio in Liverpool & The North West, we know you’ll be in need of something fun and local to listen to. What better way to start your day than with one of Liverpool’s most listened too breakfast shows – Leanne & Dave!”
Leanne & Dave at Breakfast started in 2014 on Radio City, live from the top of the tower .The show was an instant success and saw massive audience figures with Leanne & Dave’s chemistry shining though. Dave Kelly has worked all over the UK with his radio shows.
There are new episodes of the podcast every weekday morning so people can tune in on their commutes to work, or whenever they feel like it. As well as Leanne and Dave’s Daily Dose from Monday-Thursday, Leanne’s ‘Ladies of Liverpool’ podcast, which is now on season 4, will be available every Friday.
After sharing the early success of her new career move, the fans who have stood by Leanne said the breakfast show was axed sent supportive messages. Paul wrote: “Made up for you Leanne, good luck with this” and another said “That’s because you’re boss babe.”
