Jurgen Klopp was in attendance for Ed Sheeran’s concert in the German city of Dusseldorf yesterday. The former Liverpool FC manager has been enjoying his time away from the dugout and keeps followers updated with his whereabouts through social media as he is regularly pictured attending different events from music to sports.
The Liverpool FC legend, who led the team to their first league title in 30 years and first ever Premier League title, left his role as manager last year. He took charge of the Reds for nine years and saw the club win seven major trophies and be crowned champions of England, Europe and the World.
The German coach is currently head of football for the Red Bull Group after leaving Anfield last summer and being replaced by current manager, Arne Slot.
After his Anfield departure, he has had much more free time to enjoy aspects of life he wouldn’t have been able to as much with the full-on schedule that being a Premier League manager carried.
Today, September 7, Klopp shared a photo from Ed Sheeran’s Dusseldorf concert. Photos showed the 58-year-old wearing a cap and sporting a white T-shirt a he took a selfie with the crowd in the standing area below his seat.
He also videoed the Lego House singer on stage, as well as sharing a picture of the two with arms around each other back stage. Klopp captioned the post: “Last year we met in my world of football this year we meet in your world of music. Let’s keep it at minimum a yearly rhythm shall we @teddysphotos? What a night… what a show! Legend!”
The last time Klopp and Ed crossed paths was in July 2024 when the European Championships were taking place. A 2-1 win over England in the final made Spain European champions for an unprecedented fourth time.
Ed posed for a photo alongside Klopp in an England shirt, while Klopp wore a denim jacket and black T-shirt. Klopp wrote: “Some impressions and some great people from last night @euro2024.”
To mark the both of them re-uniting, Klopp told Ed today “let’s keep the routine of meeting at least once a year @Teddysphotos”, before telling him “great concert mate”.
Klopp was recently in attendance to watch Robbie Williams perform. In July, he posted photos of the Let Met Entertain You singer and said: “Thank you for « entertaining » me and 42.000 others @robbiewilliams – was great to meet you again!”
When Klopp announced it was time to bid an emotional farewell to the Kop, he admitted the non-stop demands and intensity of the role had left him exhausted.
The ex-Borussia Dortmund manager, who had extended his Liverpool deal to 2026 in April 2022, explained his resignation at the time by saying: “My managerial skills are based on energy and emotion and that takes all of you.
“If I cannot do it anymore, stop it. It was not my idea when I signed the new contract. I was 100 per cent convinced at that moment we would go until 2026. But I realise my resources are not endless. I’m not a young rabbit anymore.”
While he is also loving his holidays and new freedom, Klopp admitted to Sky Sports News that he is also relishing the challenge of learning day-to-day things he did not do while managing Liverpool.
