Jesy Nelson has confirmed her split from musician Zion Foster. The former Little Mix singer has been open about her personal life in recent months after the birth of her twin daughters Ocean Jade and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster in May 2025. The twins were diagnosed with rare genetic condition SMA1 (Spinal Muscular Atrophy).
The NHS said the condition causes muscle weakness, movement problems, problems with breathing and swallowing, muscle tremors, and bone and joint problems. When announcing her babies’ condition in January, Jesy said the rare genetic condition would mean they are unlikely to ever be able to walk or regain their neck strength.
She said the diagnosis was made after her mum noticed the twins “were not showing as much movement in their legs as they should be”, and they later began to struggle with feeding.
Jesy claimed that when she first went to see doctors about her twins they told her “don’t worry, it’s fine”, before an eventual diagnosis of SMA1. In the singer’s latest update, she revealed her split from Zion.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the 34-year-old said: “We have been through such a traumatic experience and for us, our girls are our main priority and our main focus.
“We want to give them the most positive, happy and uplifting time and energy and because we have both been through such a traumatic experience, the energy wasn’t right between us, which is understandable.

“We are still friends and we are still united in co-parenting our daughters. They are our main focus, that’s all we can do, be the best possible parents we can right now.”
Jesy’s pregnancy will be documented in her upcoming Prime Video documentary, Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix, which is due to launch on February 13. Speaking about the release, Jesy shared: “I just think it’s crazy how the universe works that the one time I said I’m ready to let the cameras in, that everything since has played out.
“But at the same time, as horrendous and traumatic as it was, I am so incredibly grateful that the cameras were there. During episodes three, four, five and six, that’s when you really start to see the access.”
Jesy and Zion first started dating in January 2022, and the pair got engaged in September 2025. She wrote on Instagram at the time: “Just got engaged to my best friend.”
Jesy rose to fame after winning The X Factor in 2011 with Little Mix alongside Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall. The singer left the group in December 2020 after nearly a decade together, with chart-topping singles including their winning song Cannonball, Shout Out To My Ex and Wings.
