The 15th series of Dancing on Ice is well underway with Jayne Torvill returning as one of the judges on the hit ITV show. The professional skater, 67, sits on the judging panel alongside her skating partner Christopher Dean and dancers Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse every week as a host of famous faces take to the ice.
Best known for her ice-skating partnership as one half of Torvill and Dean, the pair captured the nation’s heart when they won gold more than 40 years ago at the Sarajevo 1984 Winter Olympics, with their iconic dance routine to ‘Bolero.’ In more recent years, they have been familiar faces on our screens as experts on Dancing on Ice, working ever year with a new, star-studded line-up of contestants.
At this time of year especially, Jayne’s Instagram is regularly filled with Dancing On Ice photos. But through the years, she has given her fans a brief glimpse into her family life and stunning home.
When she’s not filming, occasionally Jayne shares photos from inside her beautiful home which boasts a cosy lounge, huge open-plan kitchen, sprawling garden and more. Jayne has been happily married to husband Phil Christensen since 1990 and the couple have two children.
The family have a beautiful country home in Sussex. Inside, the kitchen and dining area is combined into one large space and has a rustic, homely feel.
On the left, we see a wooden dining table and chairs, perfect for hosting guests. They match the high stools tucked into an island area and big cupboards nearer the kitchen.
Light brown tiles cover the floor, while a green, floral mural is painted just off part of the ceiling, giving more of a woodland theme. In the background, natural light also pours in through the large window, offering a view out onto her impressive garden. On her Instagram, Jayne often poses with her lovely dogs. And they appear to enjoy their family home just as much as she does.
Inside the living area, the rustic décor continues and there are more large, wooden-framed windows that beam light onto the chic interior. Relaxing in the sunshine you can sometimes see Jayne’s two dogs who are “best friends”.
In one photo, we see them lying on top of a light brown and white tasselled blanket. Attracting their own fans, one person said “two sweethearts,” while another user commented “so cute xx”.
Outside, Jayne’s garden is something in itself. On the spacious patio area, you can find a circular dining table with matching chairs and a number of bright plant pots scattered around.
Brick steps lead up to the lawn section, with tall hedges in the background and wooden frames. There are also a few sun loungers, perfect for curling up with a book and soaking up the sun.
More recently, Jayne has also been keeping busy away from the ice, working on a new project with husband Phil. Taking to Instagram, Jayne told fans of her “irrational purchase,” leaving fans “amazed”.
In the post, she said: “All aboard! Back in lockdown, my husband and I made what may seem like an irrational purchase… a stunning little wooden boat with an uncertain fate. Her name is Bou Saada and she is a beautiful vessel built in Essex in 1935.
“In 1940, she was requisitioned for war service and took part in the Dunkirk rescue of British soldiers in France, known as Operation Dynamo. After years of neglect, we’ve rescued her and I am delighted that she has been nominated for the ‘Classic Boat of the Year’ award in the category for powered boats under 12 metres.”Please take a moment to vote for our little boat by clicking the link in the bio. Every vote helps preserve the rich history of remarkable boats like Bou Saada! Many thanks, Jayne x.”
A number of fans took to the comments to share their support. One said: “Love this! I’ve voted! Wishing you lots of happy times with your beautiful boat.”
