Jamie Carragher’s daughter shares a personal update, saying it’s ‘not long now’.

Mia Carragher will soon be taking on the biggest role of her career so far. The daughter of Liverpool FC legend Jamie Carragher and wife Nicola, has been slowly but surely emerging onto the film scene with various projects and she will be stepping into the role of The Hunger Games’ Katniss Everdeen in London this year.

The highly-anticipated show marks the first stage production of the blockbuster film series to date. On Instagram last night, Mia shared a structure of a Mockingjay symbol from The Hunger Games, in the films, this emblem symbolises rebellion against the Capitol. After the 75th Hunger Games, protagonist Katniss Everdeen becomes ‘the Mockingjay’, embodying this defiance.

Mia captioned the Instagram Story “Not long now ahhhhh The Hunger Games on Stage”, she added a fire emoji at the end of the caption. The Hunger Games on Stage will run at the brand new Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre from October 20 2025.

The Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre, which was first proposed in September 2024, is a 1,200-seat venue, promising state-of-the-art facilities, and a dynamic theatre-in-the-round venue designed especially to host this production.

The Hunger Games on Stage is written by Olivier Award-winning playwright Conor McPherson, known for The Brightening Air, Girl from the North Country and The Weir. He will be adapting the first book from Suzanne Collins.

Mia Carragher’s previous credits include the independent feature One Night in Istanbul, The Gathering for Channel 4, and she will soon be seen in the new Playground Entertainment series Maigret and the feature film Let’s Love. She graduated from Tring Park School for the Performing Arts in 2022 and studied acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.

After receiving the incredible role, Mia said: “I am so excited and honoured to be playing Katniss. This is a dream come true role and I cannot wait to see the production come to life. From being a huge fan of the films, I feel so lucky to be a part of the Hunger Games world, especially working with Matthew Dunster and an incredible creative team.”

Former Liverpool FC defender Jamie Carragher shared how proud he was back in July when Mia found out she had the role. On Instagram, he wrote: “I’m bursting with pride with you being the first on stage Katniss Everdeen, Mia.

“You’ve put so much work in over so many years to land such an amazing role, you deserve this babe. I can’t wait to come & watch @thehungergamesonstage it’s going to be amazing.”

Carragher posted a promo photo of his daughter in the role of Katniss Everdeen from the movie series. Katniss Everdeen is a fictional character and the main protagonist of The Hunger Games trilogy written by American author Suzanne Collins.

The Hunger Games follows Katniss as she volunteers to replace her sister in a tournament that ends only when one participant remains. Pitted against contestants who have trained for this all their life, she has little to rely on.

Five science fiction dystopian adventure films, based on the novel series by Suzanne Collins were created. The books and movies have a huge following and fanbase.

Mia recorded the moment her parents found out she had landed the role, a clip of the moment was uploaded by Mia, and an emotional Nicola broke down in tears upon learning the exciting news.
