Jamie Borthwick reunited with his EastEnders co-star just days before he became embroiled in a scandal involving fellow Strictly Come Dancing star Wynne Evans. Over the weekend, footage emerged that showed EastEnders star Jamie, 30, brandishing a sex toy that had been sent to him by Go Compare opera singer Wynne, 53.
The awkward exchange has become an issue as it has been claimed the footage was shared within a messaging group that included other Strictly stars – who it is suggested did not expect nor want to be included in an exchange that had a sexual connotation. As many of the Strictly stars are considered family friendly and with squeaky clean images, there are fears that they could be tarnished with a sexualised brush due to Jamie and Wynne’s alleged behaviour.
The revelation that the video existed sparked headlines over the weekend and Jamie was snapped just a few days before as he wandered the streets near the Southwark Playhouse in London where Max Bowden’s play is showing. The actor – who has played Jay Brown on EastEnders since 2006 – was wearing a simple grey t-shirt and light coloured chinos. He strolled with purpose while clutching his phone in his hand as he pounded the pavements between Borough and Elephant and Castle.
Footage emerged showing Jamie and Wynne joking about a sex toy while they were on the road as part of The Strictly Live Tour 2025. The clip is thought to have been filmed just two days after Wynne was recorded making a sexualised comment about pro dancer Janette Manrara.

Shortly after, Wynne was axed from the live tour and fans were left stunned and shocked by the encounter. The new footage involving a sex toy is believed to have been shared with the celebrity contestants in the Strictly Come Dancing WhatsApp group.
A source told The Sun over the weekend: “As soon as BBC executives were made aware of this shocking and Âimmature footage being shared they formally addressed the issue and reminded the pair they had to act professionally.”
The source continued: “The men were acting extremely immaturely and inappropriately, considering it was a family show, and many cast members didn’t share their crass sense of humour. Bosses were horrified and shocked, hoping to nip the issue in the bud, unaware the video had been shared more widely.”
In the footage, which was obtained by The Sun, EastEnders actor Jamie explains the toy was sent to Birmingham’s Utilita Arena reception by Wynne. He holds up the toy before turning the camera to show fellow contestant Wynne practising topless with Neil Jones.
In the clip, Jamie says: “Look at what he bought me. I opened it up and he surprised me with this, didn’t he. It’s so funny.”
Following the leak of the video details, Wynne broke his silence on the latest scandal by taking to social media. Posting to Instagram on Sunday afternoon, Wynne posted story showing a photo of a garden from the vantage point of an ice bath.
He wrote: “Ice bath view. Love to you all #mentalhealth.” Hours earlier, he had shared a photograph of himself swimming in a lake, writing: “I find cold water swimming helps with my mental health. Please look after each other.”
