Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been the subject of a bid from Al Ahli
Ivan Toney won’t be getting his dream Premier League move if he leaves Brentford before the end of the month. The 28-year-old was left out of the Bees’ squad for Sunday’s win over Crystal Palace.
England international Toney has been the subject of interest from the Saudi Pro League this summer and last week, Brentford rejected Al-Ahli’s £35m offer.
Toney reportedly remains the number one target for the Saudi Pro League outfit, who boast Riyad Mahrez and former Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino in their ranks.
After Sunday’s 2-1 defeat of Crystal Palace, Brentford manager Thomas Frank refused to be drawn into speculating about Toney’s future at the club and insisted that, like all players, he would leave the Gtech Community Stadium one day.
And with Toney seemingly destined for the Saudi Pro League, it means the England international won’t get his dream Premier League move to the club he has supported his entire life, Liverpool.
Speaking to On the Judy podcast back in 2021, Toney appeared to hint that he would be up for a move to Anfield if his boyhood club came knocking. “Yeah I support Liverpool, I’m a Liverpool fan,” he said. “If they come knocking, who knows?”
Toney, who has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, has 12 months remaining on his current deal with Brentford.
