ITV’s Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney expresses gratitude as she receives support following personal update.

Claire Sweeney has been flooded with messages of praise as she marked a special personal update. The soap star has been a hit with fans ever since she arrived on Coronation Street as Cassandra Plummer

She arrived on the Cobbles in 2023 and has been at the centre of the action since. Cassie had been caring for soap legend Ken Barlow over recent months but fell back into her old ways when she tried to ensure Ken still relied on her by slipping poison into his tea.

The character got greedy and started using Ken’s funds to buy her own goods. Her plans was eventually foiled and she has been desperately tried to get back into her family’s good books ever since.

laire’s life away from the screen is fortunately much less dramatic as she regularly shares updates on Instagram. The mum-of-one has taken to the social media platform today to reveal today is her 54th birthday.

The Brookside star, who hails from Walton, has been inundated with special messages to mark the day. Close friend and radio DJ Pete Price said: “Happy Birthday @claire.sweeney.

“We have been great friends for years I’ve watched her become a star, a household name. Claire brought her beautiful boy Jaxon into the world and she’s never forgotten her roots.

“I love this glamorous talented friend so much. Happy Birthday Claire PS will Cassie from @coronationstreet ever marry Steve McDonald?”

Close friend Kyle said: “Happy birthday Claire Sweeney. I hope today is as special as you are, I love you.” Claire enjoyed a night out in Liverpool ahead of her birthday celebrations over the weekend.

She posted a snap alongside Kyle as she heaped praise on how much she loves her home city. Claire added: “Such a great night out in Liverpool. I love this City. Dinner @sancarlorestaurants then drinks in @thelisbonliverpool and Budoir.

“Lovely to see this gorgeous artwork of @thevivienne_ behind the bar @thelisbonliverpool with my friend @kyle.john.craggs hair done by @joshhairchoice @zestliverpool dress is from @houseofmaguie bought it about 5 years ago and not expensive!”

Claire spoke to the ECHO last year as she reflected on her career renaissance. She told the ECHO in an exclusive interview: “I thought I’d had the better days of my career, so to have a year like this, I just feel so grateful and blessed. What a year.

“When you’re younger, your looking ahead all the time and thinking what can I do next. After getting another bite of the cherry when was 52, every day I live in the moment now and every day I’m grateful.

“I’ve done loads of brilliant things in my career and now I’m living in the moment.” She added: “She said: “When I was 14, I was singing in clubs in Liverpool, in the Montrose.

“I started earning money then and I’ve always earned. Some jobs are higher profile than others and you accept it. It’s the nature of the business.

“My agent said to me it’s your turn on the roundabout again soon. You jump on the roundabout and you jump off it and someone else gets on. I’ve been lucky that I’ve been able to earn and earn throughout.

“I’ve been dead lucky that I’ve been able to have a go of everything. Singing, dancing, acting, presenting. I love and treasure every minute.”
