Coronation Street’s Charlotte Jordan has spoken about her looming exit from the Cobbles. The soap star is renowned for her role as Daisy Midgeley on the ITV show.
Fans were gutted this year when it was confirmed Charlotte would be leaving Weatherfield for pastures new after five years. The character’s exit storyline has been taking shape in turbulent fashion ever since Daisy lost her unborn baby in the dramatic car accident scenes broadcast last month.
The character has since been betrayed by her mum, Christina, as they tried to scam Jenny Bradley out of money for the Rovers Return. Charlotte explained Daisy has burned all her bridges in Weatherfield after a traumatic period, which is the driving force for her character’s move to the other side of the world next week.
She said: “I think it’s very bittersweet for Daisy to be leaving. Weatherfield has been her home for a while now and, early on, was giving her all the things she wanted – family, community, stability, people to love more than she perhaps loves herself – but it’s also been the source of so much trauma for her.
“I think we’ve watched her slowly try to pick up the pieces since her stalking storyline, but she’s ultimately realised she doesn’t need to stay in a place that’s caused her so much heartbreak. And it’s just as well she’s running far away to the other side of the planet, as she’s left a mountain of destruction and angry people in her wake!”
Charlotte is grateful for the way show bosses have managed her exit and explained she is looking forward to exploring new roles in the immediate future now her stint on Corrie is over. She said: “As for me, I’m feeling really grateful for my years on the show and the people I’ve gotten to work with.
“Producer Kate has been so supportive about me wanting to go back out into the audition circuit and very generous with Daisy’s exit story, as she really wanted to do the character justice.”

However, the soap star teased her exit may not be permanent as she said Weatherfield will always have a special place in her heart. She added: “Coronation Street is a very special building, and I have loved it. And it’s just goodbye for now, not goodbye forever.”
Corrie has today released a promo to reveal further details on Daisy’s exit, which will be broadcast next week. The 29-year-old has revaeled her final scenes filming was with her onscreen love interest Daniel Osbourne, played by Rob Mallard.
On filming her last scenes, she said: “I’m not a big crier. But let me tell you, I cried on and off for about four hours straight. My last scene was with the beautiful Rob Mallard, and we were meant to cry in the scene – but we were both dry as a bone. As soon as they yelled our final “cut,” we both burst into tears. Typical.
“The Corrie gang made it so special for me. The canteen made me my favourite lunch – which made me cry. The art department drew me a beautiful card – which made me cry.
I would look over to Channique [Sterling Brown] or Julia [Goulding] or Sal [ly Ann Matthews] during our last lunch break and see them crying – which made me cry. I think I was medically dehydrated by the end of the day.”
