ITV This Morning’s Dr Amir Khan apologises after ‘putting foot in it’

GP and regular ITV guest star Dr Amir Khan was left mortified after “seriously putting [his] foot in it” while at work at his practice in Bradford. The doctor, known for his appearances on daytime programmes such as Lorraine, Good Morning Britain, and This Morning, often shares social media updates with his many fans.

And in a new video on Instagram, Dr Amir explained an embarrassing situation that occurred with a fellow medical colleague. He said: “Guys I have just put my foot in it with one of our members of staff, seriously put my foot in it.

“Thankfully she’s a friend and saw the funny side. She was in here chatting and then amongst the conversation she said to me ‘I’ve got my appointment with the ear, nose and throat team tomorrow. I’ve been pushing for an appointment and I’ve finally got an appointment with the surgeons’.

“And I went ‘oh good are they pinning your ears back?'” However, Dr Amir’s friend was not having her ears pinned back at all, rather she was seeing a doctor about being deaf in one ear.

Dr Amir continued: “And I went ‘oh! I’m really sorry’ and she started doing this [touches ears] going ‘do you think I need them pinning back?’ and I went ‘no, no, of course not. I don’t know why I’d say that’ and she went ‘are you sure?’ ‘definitely not’… but then we both started laughing. What is wrong with me?”

In the caption of his post, Dr Amir added: “I need to engage my brain before I speak, I blame the lack of sleep! Thankfully she saw the funny side.” Many followers were quick to respond in the comments section, as one wrote: “I like this sort of post of yours Dr Amir, they make me laugh and help me not to feel too embarrassed about the things I say, and to see the funny side”.

Another follower commented: “I’m glad it’s not just me. If you’re doing it as well there’s hope for me” while a third chimed in with: “We all do it doc! You’re too lovely. I bet no one can stay mad at you for very long.”
