Katie Hill has portrayed Sarah Sugden on the hit ITV soap since 2017. The young actress from Leeds took over the role from Sophia Amber Moore and is the fifth actor to play the character. On Emmerdale, she is the daughter of Debbie Dingle, who she shares with Andy Sugden.

Sarah has been living with her grandmother Charity Dingle since her mum and dad left the village. Despite the character’s young age, she has already endured a rollercoaster time in the fictional Yorkshire village. Sarah has spent most of her life in and out of hospital while battling a diagnoses with Falconi anaemia and leukaemia.

In recent episodes, Sarah thought she was pregnant and took a test to confirm, which came back positive. She attempted to tell her boyfriend, Jacob Gallagher, but was left heartbroken when he broke up with her before she got chance to reveal the news.

Charity took Sarah to the doctors, where Manpreet Sharma ran further tests to check her pregnancy and how far along she might be. However, in a devastating twist, Manpreet delivered the news that Sarah wasn’t pregnant. The doctor said her medication could have reacted with the result or she might have read the results wrong reports Leeds Live.

Away from the soap, Katie regularly keeps fans updated with her exciting life as she continues to forge an incredible career in showbiz. She grew up in Leeds and began her career performing in stage shows, including Scrooge: The Musical, Oliver! and Les Misérables. She joined ITV’s Emmerdale in 2017, as the producers wanted an older actress to tackle the character’s more serious storylines.

Despite her successful acting career, the 22-year old has also revealed her talent for singing. In 2020, she appeared on Emmerdale’s YouTube channel where she performed a cover “Almost is Never Enough” by Ariana Grande and Nathan Sykes. Ever since, she has continued to post more covers on her Instagram and TikTok accounts.

Last summer, she released her first single, titled “Bittersweet.” She revealed the news in a video posted to her 105,000 Instagram followers. She captioned the post: “Bittersweet out now<3 link in my bio x.”
