Cait Fitton has been involved in some of Coronation Street’s biggest storylines over the past year. The actress plays the role of Lauren Bolton on the fictional street.
The 22-year-old made her debut as Lauren in late 2022, after being involved in Max Turner’s far-right storyline, she was thrown in turmoil after being abused by solicitor Joel. She was forced her to flee Weatherfield before returning, pregnant with Joel’s child.
Lauren eventually got revenge when she killed him as he attacked her boyfriend in a train track confrontation before they both threw his body over a bridge and into a canal. Max Turner, portrayed by Paddy Bever, plays Lauren Bolton’s boyfriend on the ITV soap.
Last month the actor announced he was set to leave Coronation Street. The 22-year-old has been a key part of the cast since he joined the programme in 2021. Paddy took over the role from Harry McDermott, who had played Max for the previous eight years.
In a statement shared with our sister site, Mirror Online, he said: “After much reflection and in an incredibly difficult decision, I have chosen to step away from Max, and Coronation Street, to explore new opportunities. I have been surrounded by such kindness and support every step of the way.”
“It’s been a great privilege to contribute to the legacy of such a well-loved and iconic show. This chapter has been unforgettable and while I look forward to what lies ahead, I will treasure these memories.” Paddy’s pending exit comes amid a number of faces leaving the show, including Sue Cleaver, Colson Smith and Charlotte Jordan.
Paddy enjoys close bonds with his Corrie co-stars, particularly Cait Fitton, who plays Lauren Bolton. The two regularly share updates together on their social media platform and jetted off on holiday to Tenerife together in 2023. In a Q&A on Instagram today, Cait was asked about her time working with Paddy.
The fan asked: “Do you miss working with Paddy – what was your favourite scene you had with him?” Sharing an intimate scene between the two where Max has her face between his hands, she said: “This scene will always be my favourite Lax scene” with two crying emojis and heartbroken emojis.”
She added: “@Paddybever oh how I miss working with you” with two watery-eye emojis. Another fan asked a similar question, with Cait responding “I do miss my @Paddybever.”
