Danny Dyer has been a regular on our screens for decades, having begun his acting career in the 1990s. From his roles in The Football Factory and Mean Machine to portraying the much-loved Mick Carter in the BBC’s EastEnders, he’s had a hugely varied career so far.
Danny, 47, most recently starred in the new movie Marching Powder, but his latest TV project sees him get candid about his personal life.
The actor is one of the celebrities appearing in ITV’s The Assembly, where each famous face is interviewed by a group of autistic, neurodivergent, and/or learning disabled individuals, with no topic off limits.
One topic that arises for Danny is his marriage to Joanne Mas. Let’s take a look at the pair’s romance.

Who is Danny’s wife?
Danny and Joanne are childhood sweethearts. They met when they were 14 years old. The couple eventually began dating in 1992 and welcomed their first child, Dani, in 1996.
However, Danny and Joanne split shortly after their daughter’s birth. Their on-off relationship frequently hit the headlines, largely due to cheating allegations. Eventually, the duo reunited and welcomed second daughter Sunnie Jo in 2007, followed by son Arty in 2014.
When did Danny and Joanne marry?
Joanne, who worked as a financial advisor before Danny found fame, proposed to her now-husband on Valentine’s Day in 2015, in a bold move that the actor said he “loved.”
Speaking about her decision to propose, she previously told HELLO! Magazine: “I’ve always wanted to marry Danny, and I decided that if I didn’t get things moving, it would never happen. I never wanted to get married when the children were babies because I wanted to let my hair down and enjoy the day.”
Danny and Joanne tied the knot in Hampshire in September 2016, surrounded by their loved ones, and the wedding was covered by HELLO! Magazine.
On the day, Danny told the publication: “To be standing here with the girl I grew up with – looking so beautiful in her wedding dress – that is a lovely thing. Jo is my best girl – the love of my life. Without her, I would be nothing.”

Who are Danny’s children?
Danny and Joanne’s three children have followed in their father’s famous footsteps, with eldest daughter Dani, 28, having carved out her own career in the spotlight.
She won Love Island in 2018 and also participated in Survival of the Fittest. Dani is also an influencer, having worked with brands such as InTheStyle. She hosts the podcast Live and Let Dyers alongside her famous father.
The 28-year-old is mum to son Santiago, who she shares with ex Sammy Kimmence, as well as twin daughters Star and Summer, with husband-to-be Jarrod Bowen. She announced her engagement to the West Ham United footballer in 2024.
Elsewhere, Sunnie, now 18, frequently showcases her love of fashion and travel on social media, much like her older sibling, and has started to attend red carpet events with her famous dad, including his latest movie premieres. She also appeared on ITV’s Big Star’s Little Star in 2015.

Youngest of the Dyer clan, Arty, 10, has already made his film debut, having starred alongside Danny in the film Marching Powder earlier this year.
Danny has spoken about being a doting grandfather to Dani’s children, revealing he looks after the three youngsters when Dani and Jarrod are both away.
Speaking on KISS FM, the EastEnders actor previously said: “Dani’s going to Germany, and so I’ve got all the grandkids. It’ll be hard work trying to watch it with three kids under three in my house, a barking bulldog, a ten-year-old son, and a menopausal wife. Wish me luck, everyone, because that’s a combination that, init.”
