Charlotte Tilbury is giving us major 90s nostalgia with the launch of her new Super Nudes collection – and it’s perfect for achieving dramatic eyes, a soft glow and nude lips. As a beauty writer, I recently had a masterclass with the brand and learned everything from its experts on creating a sculpted look.
The Hollywood Contour Wand is the star of the show, helping anyone create the well-defined, bronzed bombshell look of a 90s supermodel, but the new Lip Cheat Contour Duo and Big Lip Plumpgasm in shade ‘nudegasm diamond’ are the ultimate combination for a fuller-looking, juicy pout.
Shoppers can enjoy 20% off the Hollywood Flawless Filter, Airbrush Flawless Foundation and Airbrush Flawless Finish when purchasing any of Charlotte Tilbury’s new Super Nudes beauty icons and checking out with the code: SUPERYOU.
Charlotte Tilbury’s professional makeup artist Eleanor Howarth prepped my skin with the Beautiful Skin Foundation and colour-correcting Magic Vanish to conceal my eyebags. Instead of dotting the concealer on the deep crease under my eyes, she used the new Super Nudes Shapewear Brush (£28) to blend it along my nose and that helped to fill up the “sunken crescents”.

The duo-ended brush features a slanted side to shape, sculpt and define, while a fluffy side softens and blends out formulas for a seamless, sculpted finish. It can easily fit in any makeup pouch. Eleanor also used the brush to soften the contouring, but as it’s a relatively small brush, it requires longer time to buff out and blend the colours. Morphe’s M103 Angled Cream & Liquid Foundation Brush, £14, is bigger and easier to use on the cheeks and forehead.
Eyeshadow in the 90s was applied quite heavy and smokey – beauty fans can achieve this look by blending earth-tone shades higher on the eyelids and darker beige hues close to the waterline. The colours in this Super Nudes Easy Eye Palette, £47, are great for those wanting to create a minimalist everyday look.
With the Hollywood Contour Wand, which was applied to me in shade Medium, Eleanor told me: “Always leave two fingers away from the nose and dab in lifted upward motions.” As she blended, it created “hollow cheeks”, chiselled jaws and a smaller forehead so my face became more defined and less puffy – just apply above cheek bones, then along the hair line, nose bridge and jawline.

But the most exciting product for me was the Lip Cheat Contour Duo – featuring two highly pigmented, blendable formulas in one easy-to-use pencil. The powdery Sculpt end is darker to create contouring shadows while the lighter, soft and creamy Fill end adds all-over colour for enhanced, fuller-looking lips.
The Lip Cheat pencils, £21, are available in four shades from Fair to Deep and I have Medium – a muted mauve and beige nude – to even out the discolouration on my lips. I had a go at drawing the lips myself and it glided on effortlessly. I would love if it came in a hit with a sharpener. Refy’s Blur Liner is a twist-to-use crayon that requires no sharpener and it’s comparatively cheaper, retailing at £16.

Comparing this to the Pillow Talk lip liner which I have it in medium as well, the Lip Cheat pencils are easier to apply on lips thanks to the creamier texture. After drawing over my lips, I had the Big Lip Plumpgasm applied on top in the ‘nudegasm diamond’ shade – which is a champagne gold hue. My pout tingled after one coat but if shoppers are avoiding this sensation, Vieve’s Original Lip Dew (£21 on SpaceNK) could be a better choice. The Kiko Milano 3D Hydra Lipgloss is also a great alternative and it’s available on Amazon for £11.99.
The said Tilbury Makeover has left me impressed and I realised contouring can be achieved with little tools. After heading out with my glamorous look, I received a compliment from a stranger within minutes. My friends were also full of praise after seeing snaps of the finished makeover. Having said that, it’s not my daily makeup style but I will continue creating the fuller lip effect with more minimal eye makeup.
