With New Year’s Eve approaching, senior fashion writer Bethan Shufflebotham says the Warehouse Hand Embellished Sequin Plunge Neck Fringe Jumpsuit from Debenhams is the ideal party outfit
If you’re tired of the same old party dresses and are looking for something a little different for your New Year’s Eve outfits, Debenhams has got you covered. The high street giant recently launched its festive campaign featuring big names like Elizabeth Hurley and Hannah Cooper-Dommett, showcasing a range of stunning outfits perfect for Christmas parties, and one piece has us obsessed.
The Hand Embellished Sequin Plunge Neck Fringe Jumpsuit from Warehouse is the ultimate alternative to your standard dress. This jazzy number features a plunging neckline that adds a sultry touch although without the risk of any wardrobe mishaps.
Its dark charcoal shade offers a refreshing alternative to black, making it a flattering choice for those who find black too harsh – although if you’d rather something a little more standout, it also comes in a hot pink.
Now, I will admit that the fashion brand’s Hand Embellished Sequin Plunge Neck Fringe Jumpsuit was one of many I’d ordered online as a potential option to wear as I dance the night away into 2025, but from the photos online, it didn’t immediately win me over. But when it arrived, I knew it was the one.
The jumpsuit is adorned with all-over hand embellishment sequins that catch the light beautifully and drapes gracefully over your tummy and hips. However, my favourite part has to be the dramatic fringe detailing, which shimmies and shakes as you walk or dance.
It also has a subtle western aesthetic with its wide leg design, meaning I can pair it with my trusty, flat cowboy boots for a polished look without compromising on comfort, thus allowing me to dance for hours on end.
The jumpsuit is such a statement piece that it needs little accessorising, but you could team it with metallic platform heels, statement earrings, a clutch bag and a bold red lip, or layer it with a structured blazer for a sophisticated look, reports the Mirror.
The only issue to be aware of when wearing the jumpsuit is, of course, the dreaded trip to the loo. I found it tricky to undo the zip without getting the fringe detailing caught in it on the way back up – however, this minor setback wasn’t enough to put me off.
I also worried it might be tricky to clean, what with the tassels and sequins. But according to the labels, it’s machine washable which is no bother. Did I mention that it’s currently on sale too, down from its usual £179?
The dazzling jumpsuit is now just £90, saving customers 50% on the price. While it’s ideal for New Year, it’s a pretty versatile piece for all year round as it’s sure to turn heads at weddings, cocktail parties or even a music festival paired with wellies and a denim jacket.
Another fabulous option for a NYE bash is the Mariah Sequin Fringe Wide Leg Jumpsuit from Phase Eight. Priced at £129, it creates the illusion of a shimmering silver top paired with sleek black trousers.
If you’re more of a dress person, the Black Sequin Fringe Hem Flapper Dress from Roman is a steal at £55 and oozes art deco charm. However, for me, the standout piece has to be the Warehouse jumpsuit.
It’s proof that dresses don’t have to hog all the attention this New Year. With its funky tassels, unique colour scheme and sparkles, it’s every bit as eye-catching as any gown. Plus, it offers the comfort and confidence of trousers, allowing you to dance the night away without a care in the world. You can snap up the Warehouse jumpsuit here.
